Let’s go with the sports analogy (even though the sports analogy doesn’t truly represent what’s happening here):
Pubs should be a casual place. Ranked should be the “tournament” or “more competitive” place.
Let’s equate non-ranked to the regular season of a sports league. Every team plays everyone (in most leagues). Some teams play every team multiple times. Even the STRONGEST team in the league play the weakest team. The Browns don’t get to say “oh come on, why do we have to play the Patriots?!? They are undefeated and we haven’t won a game yet!” Everyone plays everyone because that produces records.
Let’s look at records now in Apex. I’m a masters player. After I achieve Masters I hit a brick wall and start losing all my matches in ranked. So I switch to pubs, where 60%-80% of my opponents are Masters/Preds; I play the exact same players I’m seeing in Masters ranked lobbies. I try my best but I still have little success. I play way more pubs than ranked. What’s my win rate?
1.2%
That’s LOWER than most of my friends who play daily but aren’t very good. I DEFINITELY don’t want to sound mean, but average players should NOT be having better experiences and better results (records) than skilled players (by virtue of the latter group only playing the best players in the world).

The league you are referring to is composed of the first n (20?) teams. That is like saying that the first 20 teams on Apex's leaderboards will have a tournament every Sunday -for the duration of a season to see who is the more consistent team of all qualified to participate. And in that case every team will fight every other team.
However, the Dallas Cowboys will never be matched against my amateur team, because it would be violating ANY criteria of a fair match.
In the same way, you as a master will be placed against adversaries of similar skills, which include Diamonds at times, and Preds, as preds are the firts 750 in the masters rank.
If matchmaking were working that way (like you claim it works for masters) also at lower skill levels, it would be fantastic. It is not. I get preds/masters and diamonds, despite having a .7 k/d and a 1.6% win rate.
Look, my win rate is 1.62% this season so far. It went from 3.8% past season to half of it, or less. By the way, I am only a gold 3.....and cannot make it past it....
Why should I (and others like me) be punished, and be made to play against opponents we cannot defeat?
Is it possible that your friends have more Ws because they play more than you do?
- 5 years ago@Vdstrk While I agree you shouldn’t be in a lobby full of masters/preds, you saying that you NEVER want to see them locks us into the “everyone should only play opponents as close to their skill as possible argument.”
Which scenario is more offensive:
You (an average/below average player) occasionally engaging a Master/Preds and it resulting in you having a 1.6% win rate
Or
Me (an above average player) EXCLUSIVELY playing Master/Preds and it resulting in a 1.2% win rate.
Unfortunately, I feel like the latter is more offensive. - Vdstrk5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Axs5626Sxa5001
You are fighting opponents accessible to you. Sure you have to put effort in it to win.
How many hours do you play Apex each week? - 5 years ago
@Vdstrk
I play several hours daily (for the most part). Lifetime games: 21.5K
You referenced the word “effort”. When I started, I wasn’t very good. I put in the “effort” to improve, and now I lose more than I did when I wasn’t very good. LOL
What is the point of being competent at an activity if I don’t see the benefits of said competence. Why should I have to put in the same AND OR more effort than below average players when my results are the same or even worse? - Vdstrk5 years agoSeasoned Ace
Do you place at least 80 hours per week in Apex? that is the standard for top players from what I see, if not more.
Is it possible that you plateaued? Not everyone will go on to become a champion. I mean, we only have few Floyd Maywheater(s).
The benefit you see is being a master, and the privilege of competing with "better" players than average, and having a chance nevertheless.
It is in having achieved masters.
My question to you is, what is the point for me, and players like me to fight against top ALGS players? the difference is so big that it does not even serve as a learning experience. - 5 years ago
@Vdstrk
It comes down to frequency and variance. You are not playing against these types of players often. I highly doubt you have a premade ALGS team in each of your lobbies. I know this because they are in MY lobbies, and you are not dropping in my lobbies consistently. Sometimes you will run into a pro, but that is the lesser evil than me ONLY playing them. - Vdstrk5 years agoSeasoned Ace
- 5 years ago@Vdstrk No.

I think your win rate is definitely linked to that.
IMO, you have everything necessary to be great, you maybe lack the time (that being due to school or work, or anything more important in your life) it takes at that level to truly shine.
Good job getting there by the way! - 5 years ago@Vdstrk Thank you and I wish you well. Obviously we disagree but the fact remains that we both want people enjoying the game.

according to what MM decided to match this poor guy in a lobby like this, he/she clearly still a new player and still don't know what to do or Respawn is now using bots to fill lobbies but this is not the first time today.
I had a similar blood hound who was a new players 100% sure and he wasn't a bot.
The thing is same as this blood hound considered a low skilled the same is applied to some of us who get stomped by preds or atleast I fall in this category.
When I get matched against someone with 3 or 4 KDR while am holding my 1.6 then the comparison is the same as this BL who is maybe having a KDR or 0.5 or lower
respawn really need to reconsider the MM system . - pandareno19995 years agoHero+

Thank you. It's ok having different opinions!I agree on that! (having fun in game!)

Yes. that is exactly what happens. I think the jump from doing decent/well in a low level, very low level lobby, to a bit more skilled one one is way too steep. It seems like it skips several steps in between the lobby that BH belongs to and the one he's bing placed into.
He might have been carried to victory the very previous match. - 5 years ago
@VdstrkI completely agree with you, I don't know if you seen my other videos.
If you noticed I used to get one pred/master in champion squad but when I had a master in my squad then the MM went full aggressive and gave us a squad of two preds and a master.
There is pattern here , and I seriously agree with what you said that it takes one master/pred squad to ruin the whole match specially when they are the last squad against a squad of my level - Vdstrk5 years agoSeasoned Ace@maximas1986
Another though here. It seems that quite a few top streamers/players make smurf accounts to make "guides". Sure, they are trying to make something useful for their communities, but at the same time this encourages smurfing.
