- @C0nfusias AFAIK it not a hard and fast respawn rule, so it's can't be cheating. Morally questionable yes, but players find there fun in different ways. An octane on my team this evening was determined to kill us and he did a few times. Knocked me off the island when I wasn't looking etc, I stayed, was respawned, the other squaddie left, bit of fun
- DarthValtrex5 years agoHero (Retired)@C0nfusias I'd tend to agree. I do know people who have had their smurf accounts deleted/locked.
The definition of cheat: 1.
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.
I'd say that's exactly what smurfing is.
THe one area where I don't think it would be, is for celeb accounts. Sometimes they don't want to stream or deal with the masses.. So they have a streaming account and a smurf to have fun on. I always wonder if those people who don't have a mic on are celebs?! May be true, but it's still the result of broken matchmaking. I don't encourage it but I can see people doing it out of frustration. I don't have a problem with people doing it for as long as matchmaking remains broken.
WHEN I GET A SMURF ON MY TEAM IN CASUAL AFTER THE FIRST FIGHT THEY LEAVE EVERY TIME
- @C0nfusias No, it's allowed from Respawn's side. Just don't play ranked for a season and you will also have chance to smurf against bronze players :D
- DarthValtrex5 years agoHero (Retired)@Sand_spitter Match making is not broken. It works perfectly fine for me, my lobbies are competitive and I bounce all over the lobbies. Some times I'm in the top tier lobbies other times I'm in the mid tier lobbies. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
The issue is, people want to PUB smash and stomp all over lobbies of lower skill players. They don't want competitive lobbies.. If things were too easy for people they would not be complaining about broken match making. - @DarthValtrex But isn't that the same for ordinary mortals, to have fun. Can't have one rule for ordinary mortals and another for celebs! I don't have a mic on and I'm not a celeb 😁
It depends really. Not everyone is affected by it equally and the same matchmaking protocols aren't used across the board for every region. Respawn themselves admitted this. You might be one of the lucky ones and remain unaffected but the next guy's milage may vary.
Competition is one thing, a certain loss is another.
I personally don't like seeing preds in my lobbies as I can't realistically compete at that level. But at this point I don't really care as I stopped taking this game seriously. But back when I did I remember that it felt horrible to be wrecked by every player game after game. Times like that seemed to come and go as your stats go down but not everyone has patience to deal with that. And that's when people start smurfing, when they've had enough and just want to get some form of enjoyment out of the game. From what I've seen and read, smurfs are bad players for the most part and do it because their lobbies are simply too hard.
As for the pub stompers I believe they are far in the minority.
For those keeping score, a recent ranked loss was to a squad of lvl 31, 33, & 68. All in Gold III or II. My mind is unchanged, smurfing is cheating.
- Just had another game with almost identical results. all Gold 2 or 3, the offending squad was all less than level 40.
