SOLOS is coming to Apex Legends but not this one

In the latest patch notes of the upcoming season of the mobile version of the game, solos will be a new mode. Just goes to show how different the philosophies are between the two games and developers. The current explanation on why solos is still not in the game is that Apex Legends is a "team-based game" so I don't know what will be the new excuse. Yes the mobile version of the game is made mostly by non-Respawn devs but 70+ Respawn devs are working with mobile. They also have a regular deathmatch mode, a 1v1 mode in the firing range, and a better Crypto (drone can follow you) in the latest update. If I were Respawn, either make solos an LTM to test if it's still a good mode or exchange it with Duos as they're always concerned with splitting the playerbase.

Common criticisms of solos back when it was available in season 2
1. Too much camping. But this won't work now as you have a lot more recon legends.

2. Teaming is easier to do. This is the only problem that I can see.

More options and modes would always be better as I'm really feeling the BR fatigue after 3 years of playing Apex as my main multiplayer game. Really excited to try out overwatch 2 this week though.

@Cheese9Man I don't really care about solos but the "too many game modes would split the player base" is no longer an excuse. Put the other modes in and see what remains popular. CODs BR is by far their most popular and makes the most money but they still have all the rest. I'd even pay for the other modes.

Without the success of Apex on Console & PC out long before the mobile version became an afterthought then I very much doubt the mobile version would ever have been released.And yet at times it seems a lot more thought & ideas go into the mobile version despite having only a fraction of the database of its console/PC counterpart.When players suggest pinching a few of the ideas from Apex mobile & moving them over to the main game like a few of the mobile characters not in the main game transitioning over get fobbed off with the excuse as Apex mobile 'is in a different timeline' for the reason being a big 'no'.Having played the Apex solo mode in it's brief appearance back in the day I confess I liked it & always hoped it would return on a more permanent basis all be it minor changes to it like possibly slightly smaller maps,fewer players in a match etc.I certainly agree with Hayhor's comment regarding 'too many modes splitting the playerbase' being a poor excuse (& I'll also add a lazy excuse) as to the reason for the lack of more modes.Do Respawn or Apex want a bigger playerbase or not? or do they not want to freshen the game up?.

@Cheese9ManI think my problem with Respawn is that after 3 years, the words just feel disingenuous for many things.

“More than 3 modes will spit the playerbase.”

“______ is coming soon, we’re working on it.”

“We’re changing ______ for competitive integrity” (then subsequently resells other skins that comprise integrity)

“Players think they want themed skins (from other franchises) but they probably really don’t.”

The list goes on.

@hayhor I've seen people use the "split the player base" excuse then ask for custom lobbies in the same sentence...................Custom lobbies will literally take players out of the game and away from the general population. Solos will not hurt the overall health and playbase of the game. I promise you this, more people would play Solos than currently play Arena.

Wasn't it that Solo was bad for player retention according to their data?
If so, would be a weird move implementing it to a platform they want to get new players onto and keep em there.
But surely they have their reasons.

@XHelperZ I don't remember that but I do remember all of the teaming and hiding in corners people did. I want them to add solos just to get people to remember why it was bad.

“Solo was bad for player retention”
This is somewhat hard to tell because the introduction of solos was with one of the biggest money grab events of apex, the iron crown collection event. People were so pissed how they did the CE and some pretty much left for that.

They also said they wouldn’t bring back fortified legends ever again and all future legends will be based on Bang’s hitbox. My point is anything can change so why not at least make it as an LTM.

@Cheese9Man My main thought on it, is that Apex has changed drastically since the first iteration of Solos, so I'm with you, in that it wouldn't be a bad idea to at least run the LTM again, to see what the data says now. Plenty of people are asking for it, so it would make them happy, at the very least.
