I criticized this years ago with the same arguments. The split was obviously made for pro gamers/streamers to keep them motivated or to thin-out the pred-playerbase.
As a normal player, however, you don't have the time to work your way up again and again. It reminds me of Sisyphos, who was never allowed to reach the top of the mountain because his stone kept rolling back halfway up.
Short: the split punishes all casual players and should be removed!
(I stopped playing ranked many saisons ago because of the split: I reached Diamond once - then I was pushed back to platinum over night...which was absolutely frustrating).
