So yesterday I played differently than I usually do. Instead of hotdropping and engaging any nearby enemies, I went to ‘soft’ places and only fought when it needed to be done...got several wins because of it... you think that’d be good right? NO! I was bored out of my mind. The matches felt so long and useless doing that but I knew I could get wins this way... So it’s not for me to judge but the consensus is ‘BRs aren’t about kills but being the last one alive by any means necessary’. But playing like this... I cant do it. I rather have matches filled with excitement fighting squads and dying prematurely or a chance at winning than looting for first half for instance and only seeing 1-3 squads for the remainder and having a good chance at winning. I’ve always been more the killing type than winning. But usually the correlation is high (ie. cod team deathmatch) between those two. I like knowing that I could continuously best the enemy’s best instead of winning, only to move on to the next battle. So people who prefer the 2nd route. Why is it that you like this way? Do you like the feeling of winning? Are you averse to shooting or having your hand sweaty and hard pumping due to the stress of keeping off 3-9 ppl? What is it? Please let me know. Or lets just have a fun discussion with everyone’s insights into their way of playing.

@Koochi-Q That's how I played throughout season 2-3, and I cranked a lot of wins there.4-5 however I just full rambo now. I'm long past caring about wins lol. 😛

@hayhor That’s part of the fun of BRs for me. I don’t know what I’ll get. BRs are just a metaphor for real life (damn thats deep koochi! Yes! I go deeper than Mount Everest if it was inverted into the sea! XD). You never know the cards you’ll be dealt with in any second of the day. Even if you (think you) land totally secluded there might still be a surprise. But spicing it up by having multiple variables and equationing them to your advantage is what life and BRs or games in general are about... the more variables, the more risk, the tougher the challenge but the payout/payoff feels that much better :PI’m no master-aimer. I know which fights I’ll win and which I wont. In that situation I add more variables by way of either retreating or pushing forward. If I win it’s that much better cause you can think ‘well this person was better in aiming, yet I was better in outsmarting’ ^.^But you’re definitely right. It also depends on your team for situations to go well, but I first rely on myself, next on my skillz & lastly on myself again xD. No trust is placed upon teammates until I cant defend myself any more.@Daze623 exactly! Not everyone camps tho. Some just steer clear of action... but then the game starts to feel like a running simulator 😜@rloaz34 yes indeed. You have to be aware of your surroundings. It makes no sense if you saw a team running 100m in front of you but you engage a team that’s 30m in front of you also running cause 80% chance that the 100m team will turn back for easy pickings. Unless you already have a strategy for them or you know you can handle the first team within 10 secs of engaging (which you almost never know since you dont know their skill lvl, armor, loadout and such).@MandatoryIDtag I was at the no-care state from the beginning of S2 xD.

@OldTreeCreeper But the thing about hot drops is they aren’t always hot. If the trajectory goes somewhere, the first place is technically the hot zone, yet not always is this the case. Water treatment, repulsor, The Crane, Artillery, Slum Lakes, The Gauntlet and that other place sometimes only have 1 other team but I still consider it a hot drop. They’re all places that accommodate loot for at least 2 teams so you just have to think fast...KDR doesn’t really interest me. I just like the killing and not so much a stat no one’s seeing. But Wins mean even less so thats true xD

@hayhor I hold my own definition of hot drop. It’s basically (one of) the first high loot places you can go to. I think in most cases that substitutes as the generalized ‘hot drops’ tho as ppl usually go there. But I totally get why you had the idea you had, I should’ve explained my definition 😅But both cases I’m in for it unless I know it’s not a good jump. Like ppl going late into labs when I already see 5 teams heading there. That’s just stupid. Only places I know that can accommodate 5 squads are slum lake, swamps, Repulsor & Artillery... even in those cases you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel.Lolz charge rifle ppl need to die! Darn annoying ppl spamming a straight beam anywhere from 100-400m away!

@EdwardDLuffy I hear where you’re coming from, but that feeling you get from last circle tactics is what others are likely feeling when continuously fighting.

You make a valid point about hot drop kills. Yes, sometimes... if not most you shoot dead those dead-on-land victims. They have no gun and if they had they might’ve won. That’s not so exhilarating. But I’m also not talking about that. I’m talking about early-mid games where you constantly have to fight squads. That’s where the allure is. Fighting (multiple) squads who already have (their) weapons and you need to outsmart, outskill and/or outgun them. I think there’s more tactics and skill revolving around that than end game. I say this because end game, ppl are tense, adrenaline surging, hands clamping up... not thinking straight and they make a wrong move just because they (partially) keep thinking ‘gotta win, so close, gotta win’ instead of fully thinking about strategy.

I also like the odds of a squad actually (semi-)working together if I for instance have no weapons or a bum one and getting chased by an enemy who has one and I seemingly freak out for them, not knowing I’m leading them right to my team who kill them (almost never happens with these randoms... most times they die by that person chasing me XD).

But dont take me wrong. I’m not an absolute adrenaline junkie. I know when to bail out and I use my skills to get us (preferably) far in the game or try to win, I just dont really go for it from the beginning.

@Koochi-Q I'm not good enough to run all over the map and take every fight with multiple squads. And I hate dropping with multiple and relying on RNG at the start to get a gun. So I typically drop soft as you say. Many times that means 1 other team but we typically do fine then. After that we look at the circle and as we rotate we engage when it makes sense and get out when clearly disadvantaged. It is in between what you say. I like to win more than anything on the game.

Do not get me wrong, I have enjoyable pushing games but my teammate better be good in those cases.

@Koochi-Q Theres nothing i love more than a 3v3 at a small circle, only 2 squads, no third parties. I also like getting kills but i rather get wins.

@Koochi-Q I feel you. I hate camping and just waiting for stuff to happen. Winning feels nice but when you win because you hid through out the whole game....it doesn't really feel like you won. Outsmarting a team and killing them feels more like a win than winning through hiding.

I prefer to land "soft" or with no more than 1 other team because I can more likely control my next moves. If there's one other team I can likely engage in a fair fight. If there's no other teams I can loot and then pick a fight that I feel is fair. Me and my friends are not good enough to fend off multiple teams simultaneously, so that's part of the reason. But I also don't hot-drop because much is too reliant on loot/luck, in my opinion. And even if I do happen to land on a shield and decent gun, and win my first fight, I'm likely to be 3rd-partied before I can heal or run away and get ready for the next fight.
But that's strictly early game. Mid-game I prefer not to just wait. I prefer to push fights as long as I'm not at an obvious disadvantage, such as when I know there's another team real close or we're pinched, making it inevitable we'll be 3rd-partied right away.
So ultimately, if I die and it's a fair fight/we're both looted equally, even if it's early, I'm good with it. It's just the situations where I die so early with no shield vs. a shield or a Mozambique vs. ANYTHING else I get frustrated. But again, part of that is my skill-level. I'm sure many of you win those fights frequently, but I am no such guy, so I opt for less traffic early-on.

@Koochi-Q I much prefer to loot up a bit before going at it. Too many hot drops to loot bins with med kits and sights are imo very boring and invariably short games. I enjoy the tactics side of it outwitting if poss and see it as kinda like a game of chess. There is a satisfying rush to be had there too. You sound a bit more interested in the kdr side of things than wins.
I take great pride in my number of top 3's and am just approaching 500k damage on.my wraith.
