You guys realize the changes haven't actually rolled out most places right? And from my understanding ranked MM is going to get looser when it does. lol
My interpretation of that blog post:
1) We lump the playerbase into 4 categories: Newb, Noob, Low 40%, High 40% i.e. matching is basically random unless in their 'special needs player' category. God help you if at the bottom of their 40% buckets.
2) They realised playerbase shrinks because nobody recruits friends to play Apex - cause they get roflstomped unless new person is already godtier in other fps's (it's too late, the only people I'd recommend to play Apex uninstalled forever after like... 10 games of being roflstomped alongside me~~ :D)
3) They deliberately created OP squads in ranked (group the best players, let them stomp everyone else so if there's high ranks in your lobby they dont even need premades, matchmaker will do it for you!)
4) Their focus is on 'creating a sense of progression and achievement" to get money from the playerbase, not enough people doing battlepass levels / buying heirlooms = panik qik fix teh things like matching!
5) Unless this drives revenue in your region, enjoy the old *.
6) We'll make important changes like matchmaking via stealth changes
