Nope the learning curve is fine, but for the game to survive you have to cater to both casual and hardcore players. If you change too much too fast then yup it'll be overwhelming for casual players. The game has been in a good place I feel over the last few weeks, the legendary hunt event was great, all the little changes with the leviathans and flyers have made the game feel like it's a living breathing thing and it's building up to something fun. I think in terms of content they need to add more lore, more character interactions, more quirky things to the map that you see more slowly over time. Weapons and legends are great but how long does it take for the new factor to wear off?
I agree with you however that there should be more progression for people that finish the battle-pass, I would say the badges are at least one form of progression but they're obviously not enough. Would you want a kind of prestige option for your battle-pass? What would you want to be the rewards from that?

I really like the idea to earn extra veteran badge slots on the banner.
Banner flex items is where it's at.
