What is wrong with gold players?

There are a lot of people who play ranked mode without any desire to actually chase a rank. There are also a lot of players who actually ARE gold level players. They won't ever get better. There's no reason for them to not hot drop and die early because even if they cold drop and play it safe they still don't have the mechanical skills to win engagements at that level. I think that us forum goers (who almost by definition are more serious players) forget that most people in this game are not very serious. They're just hanging out in the game for various different reasons, most of which have nothing to do with competition. After all, what's a player supposed to do if their accuracy and game sense are gold? And they don't have the time or interest to try to improve either one? And they hate pubs?

@bobadiw2 Ranked plays better than pubs because teams spread out. This means I can take fights throughout. I'm not the guy that lands with 5 teams but I am the guy that tries to land with one or two others to loot quick and take a fight. Then run to the next.
