Where is the actual gameplay besides looting?

When I play an FPS game, I just want to shoot other players and develop my combat skills.

In Apex, however, I find that I am spending all of my time waiting for a game to start, waiting to land, looting, dying and then rinse and repeat. A huge amount of, or even all of Apex is waiting and looting.

I cannot control the actions of my teammates as they never seem to develop any sort of reasoning in regrads to their survival.

In Apex survival means gameplay beyond looting. But because there is so much loot and so many tiers of loot, looting becomes the sum total of gameplay because players' ambitions are simply to get better loot. The developer's has enebled this by having so much loot available. But what is the point?

If loot was not the primary objective then real gameplay would emerge.

I just wonder, and even despair, that after 13 so called "seasons" we are still in a giant loot simulator? What is the purpose of this?

Apex has some appealing gameplay but it is eclipsed by this constant looting.

Loot - get betterloot - get even better loot - die because looting- queue for next game - land - loot again etc. It's a self evident vicious cycle. Why is nothing done about it?

I'm sick and tired of it! But being angry seems to be the developer's goal. I just wonder why that is?
