Where is Winter Express

Dear Apex Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide feedback regarding the absence of the LTM Winter Express this year and fan favorites limited-time modes (LTMs) in Apex Legends.

As a dedicated player and enthusiast of the game, I have noticed the recent lack of rotating LTMs, which have been an exciting and engaging aspect of the gameplay experience. These unique game modes often added diversity, challenge, and entertainment to the overall gameplay, providing a refreshing break from the traditional modes.

While I understand that game development and prioritization of features involve numerous considerations, the reintroduction of LTMs could significantly benefit the player base. These modes not only foster a sense of anticipation and excitement among the community but also encourage player retention and attract new users seeking diverse gaming experiences.

Reinstating LTMs like Winter Express this holiday season and the Three Strikes LTM could potentially reinvigorate interest among both casual and veteran players, creating an environment conducive to exploration, experimentation, and extended gameplay sessions. It doesn’t feel like Christmas without Winter Express. It could also serve as a platform for testing new mechanics or features, garnering valuable feedback from the community.

I believe the strategic implementation of these rotating modes, perhaps with periodic schedules or themed events, would contribute positively to the game's longevity, fostering a more dynamic and engaging ecosystem for players. Respawn if you could please listen to us players as a whole and bring back fan favorite LTM’s, it could boost the Apex Legends player base.

Thank you for considering this feedback. I remain an avid supporter of the Apex Legends community and look forward to the continued evolution and enrichment of the gameplay experience.

Best regards,

  • Its free to play PVP.
People are the reason we cant have nice things.
You can do a quick forum search here to find how many posts there were about the Loba exploit in the train crate etc.
They give us something and somebody will always find a way to exploit and once again Respawn have nothing but complaints in their inbox.

They can do fixes on their game but cant fix the people.
Like nobody likes the ranked trials so why did they add them? Because Respawn had so many complaints about the zone healers & rats.

    PS.
Also another thing is IMO devs should really think the direction they want the game to go. Is it going to be serious & pure FPS like CS or do they want it fun & variety thing like Fortnite.
Where do they put their focus. Not saying there is one easy answer but trying to play both sides of the field definitely isnt working (declining player numbers). They said they want Apex to be 20y game. CS and Fortnite will be 20 year games because they know where their focus is.

  • A developer on Twitter has mentioned that the train brings a lot of "Technical baggage" with it, and that certain interactions between legends and the train might be a tad problematic.

I don't believe this is the main reason to why they haven't released the LTM this year, but I do believe that it could've played a strong role in it.

I'm basing this on my own knowledge on the source engine, which partly applicable to this game as it's using a heavily modified version of the source engine.

Taking Team Fortress 2 for example, the payload is a buggy mess and anything with it is just hard to properly implement.

I'm sure Apex has a lot of improvements regarding something like that, but anything like a train that moves in a specific path with a certain speed can just be really hard to work with.

Especially in a game like this, where there are a lot of ultimate's and tactical abilities that can be placed on the ground, meaning that there is a high chance for bugs to exist within such environment.

Last year the LTM was already quite buggy, players exploiting certain bugs to get in boxes so they can just camp.

There also were other issues with players just straight up dying to the train and probably some other weird interactions.

Of course it's not impossible to fix these kind of bugs, but the issue with LTM's is that they are only available for a specific time period.

There are only so many hours in a day, so even if players were to find bugs whilst the LTM is actively running, they probably wouldn't be able to fix these kind of issues during the time that this LTM is out, meaning that players might be stuck with a buggy mess for the entire time that the LTM is out.

More things will be added to the game as it grows, meaning that it'll become harder to manage such LTM's as it requires more effort to make sure the train is able to deal with these new features properly. So it's entirely possible that they might phase out this LTM completely as it's just too hard to make the train work properly.

On a separate note, there also were some players that disliked the mode coming back each year, as it felt like a lazy move to reintroduce the same thing over and over, slowly becoming more stale. There are so many players that want different things, it's not always possible to keep them all happy.

So far it seems like Winter Express won't be coming this year, whilst unconfirmed, it seems to be quite unlikely for them to make this move at this point in time.
