Who turned off the sound?

Apex Legends' audio design is a mystery wrapped in a disaster. Footsteps? Practically non-existent. You can be alone in a building one second and punched in the back the next, all because enemy audio decides to take a vacation. Meanwhile, your own footsteps? Loud enough to wake the dead. It’s like Respawn coded enemy movement sounds to be optional—except you don’t get to toggle them on.

Sure Tick rate matters—if the server updates slowly, enemy movement and audio don’t sync well

Sure Apex Legends run on modified Source Engine. These weren’t originally built for modern 3D positional audio, making fine-tuning difficult.

Feels like the game was made by a 3 men Indy studio.

And don’t even get me started on third parties. A full squad can sprint, slide, and zipline right behind you, and you won’t hear a single thing until you're getting melted. But hey, at least you’ll always hear that Mirage decoy from across the map, right?

Thank the developers that instead of dealing with real problems, they prefer to deal with bull**bleep**.

  • Oh yeah, the halograms making footstep sounds is ridiculous alone... not to mention louder than every other programmed sound in the game.

Lol - holograms making footstep sounds 🤣
