Cheats are always growing, detection will not get every single cheater, it's a war.
Protection? Like getting RP back after a cheater was detected?
Could work, if polished.
Cheaters get IP/HWID bans, though these things have become useless in every single game.
Also you won't get any feedback for reports due to their privacy policy.
Some users might get a mail, some might not, though this is just the way they handle things.

I said it many times, the cheater only cheats themselves out of the honest victory. If you play any game on "God Mode", it becomes very boring fast. This is because they are hollow wins. An empty victory has no reward.
There is a mental mindset we honest players don't understand... because we are mentally healthier than those who cheat at games.
There is the cheater who does it to prove it can be done. This is the same type of person who builds bombs just because they know how. Of course it is possible, you don't need to prove anything and it sure doesn't make you look smart doing it. There are also the trolls who get a kick out of killing honest players because they lack the skills to do it honestly.
This is no secret, but EAC is not a perfect system. It works much the same way a virus scanner does. It has a registry of patterns it scans for in the computer memory. When detected the system logs this information to the server for a human to review. If the cheat is new, it might go unnoticed for some time, but it will eventually be detected.
Hardware cheats go undetected because they are not software, when you report the user for using an aimbot, the server again logs the time and the player. Unfortunately there is no software fingerprint so the next step would be to pay an employee to watch the user as they play for evidence of cheats. Having the mouse jump to the other player's head every time is virtually impossible, clicking a mouse button faster than 25 times per second would have to be a machine at work, the idea here is to look for the impossible.
After they decide the player you reported is cheating, they can attempt to repeal the ban. Some people have gone as far to show cheaters how to unblock their IP/HWID ban to make a new free account and start cheating again. It makes it an uphill battle in the real sense of the term. Eventually PvP game companies might have to shift tactics or just put hidden cameras in every player's home to assure they are not cheating.

I completely agree with you. Cheating not only undermines the fun value of the game but also robs the true experience of victory from those who are trying to play fairly. "God Mode" can indeed become boring quickly because such victories are empty and lack significance.
The mental state of cheaters and trolls is often inexplicable to those of us who play honestly. Those who cheat simply to prove they can or to make the game more enjoyable according to their own vision likely do not truly appreciate the challenge and original purpose the game aims to provide.
The limitations of systems like EAC and similar ones are also well-known. Although they are similar to antivirus software and attempt to detect patterns, new cheats and hardware-based cheats are difficult to detect. Hardware cheats are particularly cumbersome because they do not leave software traces, and the human oversight required to detect such cheats is often time-consuming and costly.
One solution could be the development of more advanced detection systems. Continuous improvement and AI-based systems for detecting software cheats might help. These systems could identify and address new cheating patterns more rapidly, as machine learning continuously adapts to new challenges.
Another possibility is hardware tracking. Although detecting hardware cheats is difficult, hardware tracking technologies, such as unique device identifiers and identification databases, can assist in monitoring these types of cheats.
Alternatively, a multi-layered defense could be implemented in games, combining different anti-cheat technologies such as EAC with other software or hardware solutions to create a more comprehensive protection system. Multi-layered protection makes it more challenging for cheaters.
Ultimately, our goal is to enjoy games fairly and to make every effort to minimize dishonest behavior. The fight against cheating requires continuous development and innovation, and it can only be effectively managed through collaboration between the industry and the community.
