Why do so many people fight with the ring coming up on their rear ends?

I'm still "new"-ish to the game at only level 200, but one thing I don't get about BR players...

Why stop to fight with the ring literally trying to burn your butts off? RUN! Get to the Choppa!

(Choppa in this case is next ring where no burn)

No, I am NOT going back to rez you or get your box when you decided to have a firefight WHERE THE AIR IS LAVA!

Why do so many players of a BR have such BAD situational awareness. My awareness is good, I only suck cause I am old and bad at FPS...

But even I know how to keep track of the ring and be ahead of it.

You are completely right - people should run away, when the ring is coming. There are emotions, when you are fighting at the edge - running from the ring, getting kills, being under fire and so on. Its fun i must say, but also an unnecessary risk. Players should always prioritize the ring.
Its also often due to the poor planning and the urge of getting those kills, especially in ranked. Many random players cannot let go the fight. Well - if you say it through the mic then maybe they will listen, but with only pings, good luck with that.
Although waiting for the ring to close at the border and waiting for people to come is a good idea. Then you will know, that from at least one direction enemy won't come. In my opinion the safest way to play, if you cannot estimate, how many squads are nearby.

@Kyldenar Totally depends on the situation. Sometimes you have to fight. And if it is round 1 it doesn't hurt that much.

I get that, but to me that seems like poor planning. Like, I get that heat shields exist, but it seems to me if you have to use one you're not paying attention. I'd much rather have a mobile re-spawn beacon in that slot.
(I'd also rather they have us drop with a P2020 and take it out of the ground loot pool, but I'd also like a Pony)

It isn’t preferable but it happens. There are ways to deal with the ring and sometimes you can take the opportunity to hunt others who’ve been caught.

This, When you have a lot of supplies and heat shields it's def worth trying to pick a fight with a team.
Non-experienced players will panic and will only run or fight back and get picked off guard.

It's sometimes tricky but you get the hang of it when you do it more often.

@Kyldenar sometimes no amount of planning can prevent this kind of scenario.
It becomes a decision of whether you can viably escape said team that are shooting you in the back, or whether you need to engage to increase survival odds.
Team composition is a massive factor to decision making in this kinda scenario.
Zeels points are also an valid observation.

Sometimes it's inevitable due to bad luck. I ran into two teams at Countdown trying to rotate to third ring. Short of an unlikely truce, there was pretty much no way any team was making it out of that, and none did.

@Kyldenar Like what everyone said here, some times you're just forced into the fight. I've said this story before here but there was a time where us and 2 other squads were fighting outside of the round 2 ring. My squad had no choice to back out and we did the heat shield + gibby bubble + valk ult combo wombo to get out.

@Kyldenar It is worse on stormpoint. I've left teammates to die in the 3rd ring when they wouldn't connect to my valk ult.

it is not about bad situational awareness, but patience. most players don't have the patience to find loot, open locked vaults, etc. They just want endless fights. No time for strategy or planning, just hunt even in the danger zone.

@Kyldenar In pubs you shouldn't be scared to fight or to just be in ring 1/2. They don't do much dmg to you, you can outheal them pretty easily. In ranked it's better that you never get caught in the ring, but if you do, again you shouldn't be scared of ring 1. If you get caught in ring 2 however that's kinda bad cuz for sure you'll have enemy teams taking positions at the edges of the ring in order to edge guard you.
