Why do some people play Apex Legends?

It doesn't matter if you play ranked BR or Trio, if you play solo with other randoms.

You constantly get paired with the weirdest kind of people that seriously make me confused.

The squad split up and teammates runs off in each direction.
Me: - Guys, let's regroup and stick together.

Reply from teammate 1: "I don't want to."
Reply from teammate 2: "F*** you!"

Eventually, they obviously encounter another squad, ending up in a 1v3 fight.

Now, the following, common scenario is interesting and very confusing.
When replying to my first request to group up, they reply with text message and haven't said a single word in voice.
But when being killed in that 1v3 fight, they scream the most offensive things in voice chat, meaning that I and the other teammate are crap because we weren't there to fight with him.

My scenario being this detail, you would think that I take this from one single game.
But no, this happens several times per night when I play, sometimes 5-6 games in a row.

Especially around European nighttime (01:00 - 05:00).

So with that as background, back to my question; Can someone explain to me why so many play Apex, but clearly don't enjoy it?

With such an attitude and play style, they must really hate the game.

I just don't get it....

Thanks!

  • @Pulvertomten Honestly only experienced hate speech in English speaking servers and forums like this one. Never in Japanese forums or apex servers.

As for playstyle, everyone’s weird. LOL.
  • The players in the European servers are generally very nice during the day and the evening. But after midnight, they are filled with really toxic and unpleasant pleople.

And you can't compare this with Japanese people, the most respectful people on the planet haha.

My reasons are simple.  It is a fun game to play. Players are nice, helpful, and polite. There is no need to spend money, but I plan to buy a premium season pass for $10. All you earn from "winning" is cosmetics there is no pay to win. I have played this 110 hours over the last 4 weeks that is about 4 hours per day. People with mental issues, such as bipolar, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders should avoid this game, as they will only get upset.

I don't think it has anything to do with regions around the planet.  We are all human and I assume is the only species playing this game?  I have encountered disgruntle players on occasion, but they are fewer than the more pleasant ones.  You do have the option to mute your team, but I never do.  They come up with some fascinating insights about my dead mother. However I don't think any of what they tell me is possible, since she was cremated about 10 years ago.  Some people say, I am just thick skinned.  My family says, I am just thick.

I only played this with one Japanese player ( I think ) because their name was written in kanji.  They played a Bloodhound and didn't die well at all.  We were in Arenas and he kept running into the bullets.  Probably just new like me, I only wish I could have told them to use the scan to help us target the other team.

  • @Pulvertomten What keeps people playing when they clearly haven't got a clue what they're doing? Because the human animal is built to believe that it knows exactly what it's doing even when it doesn't. Layer on the big ego kids adopt while hiding in internet anonymity, and layer on the lottery mentality where they are convinced every single time they queue up that this is going to be their big winning match... and you have a recipe for idiocy in action. Blaming other squadmates with abusive language is just the icing on the cake.

The thing to remember: it isn't just your squadmates, it's also a lot of enemy players as well. And that's something you can use to your advantage.
  • Different people with different experiences across the world, with their own life problems and sometimes mashing it up with other people don't always work out. Takes something small that's nothing but it's what ignites the fuse for some people.

That doesn't mean it should excuse people's behaviour and we all should try to be better people in the end. @Pulvertomten
