Why does leaving early NOT count as a death in the K/D ratio !?

Can anyone explain why the kill/death ratio is unaffected by leaving a game early ?

To me, it would feel like voluntarily leaving when you can be revived or respawned = death. Those who cherish their precious K/D ratio are the ones leaving the game as soon as they're down.

Suggestion : PLEAAAASE change it so leaving game early = death count + 1

    @i0nviz I agree completely. It is very irritating having a squad mate turn into a deathbox.

    I go out of my way to get their Banner Card, only to have them disconnect, as soon as I get it.

    Same with enemies I'm part way though a finisher to get shields back but they quit, canceling my finisher.... Very irritating.

    @SILVERisSORRY 1- people that are boxed get a death so they aren't leaving because of what the OP is complaining about. They are complaining about the people still up or only knocked.
    2- If finishing someone and they leave you still get the full shield recharge. Them quitting speeds it up. It is actually a good thing.

    @i0nviz If you're damaged by an enemy and leave it still counts as a death. If you leave for a multitude of reasons, especially ones that you can't control it definitely shouldn't count as a death.

    @DankToliet Not true. If you get shot or even knocked and leave before being boxed, the player that shot you gets a kill but you don't get a death added.

    @DankToliet Nope, if you leave before being boxed, it doesn't count as a death. I just tested it again this afternoon for 3 matches in a row. Kills count went up with the kills I did and death count didn't increase.

    @i0nviz is correct. We were misled somewhat by the patch notes last season. The player who damaged you before you left game will get the kill on their stats, but you do not take the death on yours.
