Why Gibraltar's Buff & Wraith's Nerf Are A Good Thing

@DoYaSeeMe Wraiths have always been the "solo" players. Always pushing alone and going in like Rambo.

The Wraith nerfs were good, it forces them to player a little slower and smarter.

@DoYaSeeMe I think the issue with Gibi is his arm shield. It’s really OP in close combat. That additional 75 damage makes a huge difference... you basically have to land nothing but headshots, even if you have superior armor and guns or really out skill the Gibi.

@DarthValtrex I have a feeling that the Sentinel will break all Gibby's shields when charged up. Either that or Forge coming with strong punches (similar to Doomfist from Overwatch).

@DoYaSeeMe I guess it depends how forges punches work. But that’s sort of besides the point. Gibi arm shield makes him so OP in close combat that most legends don’t stand a chance against him, if all things are equal.

The headshot argument is sort of irrelevant, because you have to do 150-175 or 200 damage all through headshots for it to work. Any body shots are useless and will result in death. Yet Gibi can land one head shot and the rest to the body on you and you’re toast.

It’s ridiculously OP. It was a bad idea, you’re basically giving a legend 75% more health and minimal/nonexistent disadvantages. While the other legends abilities hardly come close to those kind of advantages. Toss in the dome and the ability to pop off a cell or two faster then other legends and it’s really OP

Compare wattson and gibi. Wattson Ult does not even come remotely close to gibis passive. It’s an extremely slow shield charge that makes almost no difference in a gun fight Unless you’re camped in a building and can deny access so you can sit there for a long period and charge.

The blocking nades is sort of mute because she can’t throw them, which does not really give her an edge. Toss in you can still lob nades into it, you just have to bounce them off something and they will roll in. About all it’s useful for is blocking gibi and bangs ult or camping buildings.

@DarthValtrex Thinking of it, it kind of strengthens my conclusion. There's no 1v1 in team. If you see Gibby, plan with a teammate to down him faster or have your own team's Gibby face him. Makes you work more towards a better team composition and tactics.

@DarthValtrex The thing you are forgetting is that in close combat situations it is a lot easier to land all/more shots on a Gibby, especially shotgun pellets, than it is to land those shots on a Wraith or Lifeline. So it all equals out in the end when talking about average time to kill.

@DoYaSeeMe True, but the issue is in higher skill lobbies it’s difficult to tag team the Gibi. Their team is working together just like yours.

He’s not invincible, I’m just saying when all things are equal (skill, armor, guns) he is hard to beat in close combat.

@IAmTheMeddler the thing is, the smaller profile legends take more damage. It’s also not that difficult to land shots on them. I notice no difference in bullet registration rates with a Wraith Wattson or gibi.

@DarthValtrex You can try to argue that all you want, but it is simply not true. Gibby is a bigger target so it is easier to land all your shots/pellets.
