I really hope this post gets taken serious even by people who do not have this error since Apex is the only game this happens to. This error has put us through hell trying to fix it.
I’ve been losing my mind over this error "0x887A0006" that's been plaguing my friend from playing since day one until today where I was so fed up I wanted to make a larger post than just forum posts which we have done over the years. The game launches fine, but then it just randomly crashes out of the blue at any point in the match. Every. Single. Time.
What's even more frustrating is the lack of a clear fix. There are so many posts online dating back to the launch to this year about possible fixes with many comments left disappointed.
We've all tried the basics like updating drivers, verifying game files and playing with firewall settings. We rolled back drivers, driver reinstall with DDU, GPU clocking up and down, disabling XMP. Also resetting the PC bios and reinstalling Windows. We also messed with the registry before the reinstall which is one of the things you probably shouldn’t do. Never had something work at all and this took so so many hours of us testing.
This would make you think it’s an hardware issue, but the kicker here is that this issue seems to be ONLY happening to Apex Legends. No other game on his list pulls this stunt. It's been years and we tried every solution under the sun except buying a new PC. He has an NVIDIA 1080, which isn’t great, but this problem also persists for people with current high-end cards. It’s a difficult situation since the fix is not consistent. And sometimes it works for a day or two for some but it always comes back.
We have been looking at fixes for this for so long now and there are more players really frustrated with this problem. So, Respawn, if you're listening, please give us some hope or help. Because we really love playing the game when we play it at my home (he uses my brothers PC), but since he lives really far away it’s been so difficult to get together.
We were angry but now we’re just sad that these many hours we put into trying to fix this from time to time. We never had any result whatsoever and Respawn never addressed this or fixed it.
Thank you for reading, we’re just completely clueless.
For the problems solvers. This is the error and I included some attachments of stuff that happened during the crash:
