Subject: Apex Legends ranked match issue - code: tap
Hello,
I am experiencing a recurring issue in Apex Legends on PC. When I try to join a ranked match, I often receive code: tap and get returned to the main menu.
Environment
- PC version
- Playing through Steam
- Wired LAN connection
Issue details
- Casual matches work normally
- The issue appears to happen only, or mainly, in ranked matches
- When joining ranked matches, I frequently get code: tap and am sent back to the main menu
- Sometimes, right after signing out and signing back in, I can enter a ranked match temporarily
- However, after a few matches, the same problem happens again
Troubleshooting I have already tried
- Cleared EA App cache
- Signed out of and back into EA App
- Repaired Apex Legends
- Reinstalled Apex Legends
- Verified and repaired game files
- Checked Windows Firewall settings
- Temporarily disabled Norton Smart Firewall and Intrusion Prevention
- Checked whether security software might be interfering
- Changed DNS settings to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)
- Tried OpenDNS as well
- Confirmed there was no improvement after changing DNS
- Disabled IPv6 and tested with IPv4
- Tested using tethering / a different network connection
- Tried troubleshooting from both the Steam side and the EA side as much as possible
- Disabled startup apps and background apps, similar to a clean boot
- Disabled unnecessary services through msconfig and restarted the PC
- Tested with other apps such as Discord closed
- Restarted the PC multiple times
- Rechecked the issue after restoring network settings
- Repeated these troubleshooting steps multiple times, but the issue still remains
Additional note
I have also seen recent reports from other players experiencing the same code: tap issue under similar conditions. Because of this, I believe this may not be only a local PC issue, and it could also be related to the account, server, or ranked matchmaking side.
I would appreciate it if you could investigate this issue. Thank you.
