Apex Legends causing the PC to reboot with a Kernel-41 Power error

Hello,

I have just built a new pc with the following specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
CPU cooler: SilentiumPC Spartan 4 Evo ARGB 100mm
GPU: RTX 2060
RAM: 1x16GB Kingston HyperX DDR4/3000MHz
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M BAZOOKA
PSU: SilentiumPC Supremo M2 550W 80 Plus Gold
Case: SilentiumPC Regnum RG6V EVO TG ARGB

Everything is brand new except for my drives (one 240GB GOODRAM SSD drive and one 1TB HDD, Windows is running on the SSD drive). Since I've gotten my system up and running I've been experiencing consistent crashes while playing Apex (they're not consistent in terms of the timing, it can be 30 minutes of playing or an hour, but usually I can't go beyond a few hours of uninterrupted gameplay). In the Windows Event Viewer, the only error I'm given is the Kernel-Power Event ID 41 error, with task category 63 and keywords (70368744177664),🏈. Now, that doesn't quite explain much since it only means that the system did not shut down properly.

As for what I've done, I've tried almost everything there is to do that I've looked up on the Internet, including:

  • testing the RAM using MemTest86 (4 passes, 4 hours, no errors found), switching RAM socket from 1 to 3;
  • checking the usages and temperatures either in Windows' Resource Monitor, using MSI Afterburner, Ryzen Master and/or HWiNFO - nothing is overheating, my CPU is never above 40C and the GPU never above 75C
  • reseating all of the components and cleaning out the ports; making sure that everything is connected properly to the motherboard;
  • testing out my power supply -> I've stress-tested it with no crashes whatsoever; connecting a meter to it and my PC barely needs 200W, so it does not appear to be a faulty PSU;
  • changing the default settings in BIOS for the CPU, namely disabling C-states and core boost, though it had no influence on performance since Apex never utilizes more than 70% of my CPU;
  • re-installing windows entirely and installing only the bare minimum drivers for the GPU from NVIDIA (the first system I had was Windows 10 Pro, and now it's Windows 10 LSTC)

I am quite literally at the end of my rope here and unsure of what to do next, since it appears that the issue only persists with Apex exclusively and other games I play (mainly League of Legends and other smaller games requiring very little resources, Stardew Valley, Rimworld, etcetera) do not experience such problems at all. I also deal with Blender and render using Cycles which often brings my CPU usage up to 100% and there are no issues there either.

I would greatly appreciate any and all help in the matter.

    So, I have finally resolved the issue. If anyone is experiencing something similar, I heavily recommend looking into replacing the motherboard (or at least borrowing a different one for a day or two). It's been four days now without any crashes. I got the ASUS TUF GAMING x570-PLUS and it seems to have fixed everything.

    @Krampus69003I did run a MemTest86 on my RAM a few days ago, 4 passes and it did not detect any errors.
    I don't currently play any games that utilize more resources than Apex does. I might test with Cyberpunk 2077, and I'll report back.

    @EA_Barry I haven't messed with any OC settings, so everything should be running at stocks speeds. I noticed that a new BIOS update came out, so I'll see how that goes.

    There is, however, one more piece of information I received after running driver verifier. I received the following BSOD:

    (I unfortunately don't have a better image since I had to restore my system to a previous restore point then)

    It appears to hint at Razer drivers messing with my system, so right now I'm removing those and testing to see if removing Razer Synapse/Cortex and their corresponding drivers fixes the issue.

  • I just faced similar issue after I enabled Virtualization in my Asus motherboard.
    I can't turn it back to verify, because I need virtualization, but maybe it will give a clue to someone.

    Check that you have hardware assisted virtualization disabled in your BIOS setting, and check that you have Hyper V disabled in your "windows features". Activating those both caused kernel-41 BSOD for me. I can't Apex play now because of those settings and was able to play before I activated them.
