Apex Legends Freezing After Jumping from the Drop Ship on PC 2020

Hi Dev Team,

Straight to the point...

Today have I played a few ranked matches and then I have stopped for a short break. A bit later when I came back.... the game just froze after jumping from the drop-ship each time I've tried to play a match. Please, see the video link at the bottom of this post.

History Log
>Playing from 8 months and no issues until today
>Windows 10 Pro with latest updates
>AMD Red Dragon 8GB / GPU
>AMD Ryzen 7 / CPU
>24 GB RAM

--Last game with Caustic on ranked
--Exit
--I have Defragmented and Optimized my SSD
--Cleaned the PC cache through the Disc Cleanup
>I've done this many, many times and doesn't affect Apex or any other of my games!

--Started Apex Legends
--The game started to freeze after each time I jump from the drop-ship
--The game freezes in training mode as well

>Repair the files from Origin = Doesn't work
>Uninstall and install the game and Origin client twice = Doesn't work
>Uninstalling and installing the game with new account = Doesn't work

>Cleaned all files from AppData and other folders
>Restarted the PC multiple times
>Latest PC drivers

If any Player or Dev may help me to resolve this issue I'll be very happy to play one of my favourite games again. Please, respect this request as I spend a lot of time playing, also I would like to use my Premium Battle Pass time as much as I can because right now is just wasting it...

Also having this problem now, tried repairing and reinstalling completely, same issue, repairing the game actually made it worse.

There were a couple of different threads regarding the freezing issue here, I'm also affected but in one of the other threads someone figured out a workaround. So basically the freezing is caused by AntiCheat because there is a some kind of bug with USB devices. For some people it was freezing when they had USB controller plugged in, or USB headset/DAC, like in my case.

I unplug my USB DAC, start Apex, join a lobby and wait for the drop. Before hitting the ground I plug the DAC back in and I'm good to go, no freeze. You have to do it only once when you start Apex. So try to unplug everything except your mouse/keyboard and see if the freezing stops.

  • @xewarrior This actually did work for me too, I wanted to be extra sure so I unplugged everything except my mouse and it's working okay now, thank you for sharing this temporary fix with us
