I've been having a problem with Apex Legends not ending whenever I quit the game. This has been going on for a long time now. I tried quitting normally, or using Alt + f4.. same result. I have to restart my computer to close it (to free ram memory) because even task manager doesn't forcibly end the task. I thought this was only a problem in the origin launcher but apparently happens in steam as well. Please help. Thank you!

Hey, @AqunyanMyFav @MamaLaaaaaaaaamy You you try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with APEX and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience. Can you add a Dxdiag so we can see what hardware and drivers you have? Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂 /Atic

I am recently experiencing this same issue now in Season 10. Task Manager is the only way it seems. Been playing since Season 1 and nothing ever like this has happened before on a repetitive basis. Also "the EZAntiCheat Module isn't loaded" I get quite often. Other issues is the sluggish server performance (more so in Ranked). The character selection screen before matches loads about 40% of the time when you start a game. What used to be working as expected is now just broken. (Someone somewhere isn't doing their job correctly.)I use this site quite often to check outages and server issues when I'm, lagging like mad.https://apexlegendsstatus.com/100% CPU usage as well 100% GPU loads. I can't even open Task Manager at times without crashing APEX LEGENDS to do so. All this since EMERGENCE.Player loyalty will drop if nothing is done to fix these issues.

@EA_Atic Same issue here. r5apex.exe process is closed, but steam thinks that game is still running. Tested multiple times, always after joining game for second time locks one of my CPU cores to 100% even when game is closed and only restart helps, you gotta fix ur stuff EA. It has nothing to do with apps like u say, always blame anything but ur game, its either game itself ur ur third party anticheat is doing all this. All my friends complaining with same issue witth different systems. No fix so far or proper answer just 'put in rice' logic by EA or turn off turn on againi7-8700k 4.9ghz + 6700xt all latest drivers.

yes.. literally been hapening and this is new for steam user... NOT completally closed after closing the game.. need restart PC to open again.. people always get a technical issue in apex no matter what season the game is... for me , we need to wait some time to completaly closed but yes it is annoying

the process ended after i logged into geforce experience and also ended for steam after that i was able to run the game. not really samething happened again

Could it be a issue with the m.2. Just installed a new m.2 and for some reason I have this issue. If you get it cleared Uninstaller and try to just install it on a ssd or hhd.

cant see the process on task manager but can see it with process explorer. I've changed r5apex.exe compability's to windows 8 and starting as admin, deleted shaderscache folder (SteamLibrary\steamapps\shadercache\1172470 - 1172470 apex's id) and installed process hacker to stop the process but i didnt use it after those game closed. Now it works as it used to be.

@Corvilna didnt unistall game or uninstall anything also process explorer can see r5apex.exe but cant stop it, says " error terminating process access is denied" installed process hacker but thank god didnt have to use it. If problem persists you might use process hacker to stop r5apex.exe

When linking third-party software on these forums you should mention that it's a 3rd party tool and that it's used at the owners risk.
These sites can include ads and the tools themselves could possibly be dangerous, just be sure to mention the proper details otherwise it might get removed.
After closing the game it seems like it isn't really running as a process, nor has it been elevated.
Currently still looking into it, nothing discovered yet though I'll make sure to update some of the threads if I find something relevant.

I tried to kill the proces with cmd, and it didn't help. Reason "brak działania wystąpienia zadania" ("task instance not working")

Looks like the anti cheat problem is OLD since this thread is from 2020. EAC makes this kind of problem in other games not only Apex.
