Apex Legends won't install to HDD.

Apex Legends installation does not want to install to my HDD. I have an SSD (C drive), which is the default drive that it wants to download to. However, I do not have sufficient space to download it ...

    Create a new folder in your D drive and select new folder. should work just fine!

so im trying to install Apex Legends on a secondary harddrive but when I try to install it, it says it can't install due to it being a root directory. Got any ideas?
