Banned for calling out homophobic remarks

Anyone else had this issue?  Teammate was screaming out homophobic, racist and other profanities/insults etc towards me and other teammate on voice chat e.g f****t/n word.   I called him out in text chat by saying "that's homophobic" and now my EA account has been permanently banned for hateful conduct.

Disputed the ban and they refuse to reverse the decision.  Really don't see how calling out hate is a bannable offence?  Especially when the player who said these things will still be playing and doing it in game since voice chat isn't monitored?  Maybe I'm wrong but interested to hear what others think of this.
