I’m having the same issue rn and it’s irritating the * out of me
Stress, been years and this issue is still not resolved. I cant play with my friends, I even tried changing my email to fix it and lost my heirloom and skins. EA says they cant help with the crossplay or missing skins issues. I have tried contacting respawn through many different channels and still no replies from respawn after a year and a half. I will never spend a dime to EA if they cant give me the things I have already paid for. Skins are not cheap and my attitude towards EA right now is not pleasant.
Bro, very sorry to hear about the trouble. I can relate to the frustration, but I was able to get it to work. I play on PC, all my friends play on Xbox. I went into EA.com, made sure all boxes were checked in privacy settings. Then I located and added one of my friends through the EA launcher. Then when I went back into the game I could see him under EA friends, and join his lobby. Then when I got into the lobby I could highlight all my other Xbox friends friends and send EA friend requests. Now we are all able to find and join all EA games. Best of luck.
