I have code:net but similar issue
I have similar issues but I'm still able to play (with some patience).
Perhaps it might work for some of you, so I'll share my process:
1) I log in to Apex Legends and I get stuck on the black loading screen for a while. Sometimes I get through the first time, sometimes I need a second try.
2) When in the lobby, I change the game mode to "firing range". This will freeze my game and it makes my computer sound like it wants to mow my lawn. I get the unable to connect notification (code:net).
3) I re-enter the lobby and right now, the game mode is already the firing range. I select "ready" and there are no issues now.
4) After a few minutes of killing motionless and defenseless dummies, I quit the firing range and go back to the lobby.
5) I select a public match (trios). My game will stutter once but it doesn't kick me out. I select "ready" and it puts me in a game with some delay but it's still less than a minute.
As you can see, this is NOT a fix. However, it allows me to play the game and my games feel no different than before the latest update.

It helps because apparently there's something really wrong with caching/preloading assets when game starts, which was added/modified with Genesis patch. If you do anything in Apex for some time after starting it, the issue will eventually go away; unfortunately with 1hr rotation between "old" maps, it doesn't help very much as half of that time you're trying to connect.
