Crash2Destop No Error - POV & System

Hey Guys,

Description of issue:
Just like all the rest of us, game suddenly freezes for 5 seconds and then crashes to desktop without error. Happens every 2nd or 3rd game

PC Specs:
AMD Radeon R9 390 (8GB)
i5 6600k 3.5 Overclocked to 4.0
16GB of DDR4 Memory

What I've tried:

* Rolled back my overclock on PC to normal 3.5
* Disabled vSync on monitors, ingame and GPU

* Since im running 2 screen setup, i disconnected second monitor
* Switched ingame resolution from Fullscreen -> borderless -> windowed, none of the options gave any better results

* Moved game from HDD to SSD

* Be in training mode 2-3min before each game

* Tested differtent video options. Low, High, Medium, Mixed.

* Lowered and Raised texture filtering ingame
* I've reinstalled the game to SSD twice

* I've checked game integrity from origin

* I've checked compability from shortcut and tested Win7, Win8, which gave me even worse results, crashing as soon as i get to game, every single game

* Disabled Origin in-game overlay
* Killed all tasks that were not useful from task manager. Steam, Some steelseries color sync software, etc.

* Updated my GPU Drives, Downgraded them to old ones, no success
* Made sure i disconnected all the controllers from PC (Used xbox one receiver with xbox one controllers to play sport and racing games)
* Disabled all extra audio devices from sound settings

I have no more ideas what to try. It still happens to me every 2nd 3rd game. I'm starting to lose the love for the game, but i damn adore the game so much. It's something i've been waiting for from BR scene for a long time...

I know devs have acknowledged the problems, but there's literally no source of information for community how things are going and don't come at me with sentence "this game has only been out for a week". I come from IT field where 30min downtime is catastrophy and will cause massive harm for multiple companies. So getting a fix with proper debugging WILL take time, but there's also process of discovery and investigation.

What i'm exactly looking for here is some update from devs that they have implemeted new lines of code to debug the same crashing error or even something. Considering the severity of the issue, i believe this is Priority A or Pri0 however your definition is for this in your company, i do believe this will get TONS of attention and everyday work. If everyday work since launch has not yielded any results that can be passed to community, other than "Here's a list of community made workarounds for now" then i feel this is not sufficiant enough.

But no hate Respawn, all love ❤️
Hope you guys will keep fulfilling our expectations 🙂

  • Hey,

Nice nickname first of all, haha!

Yea mate, this sucks. Seems like there's no permanent fix for many many people.
People who find hotfixes to work are lucky, and I envy ppl who can play this without issues.

Let's hope this post gets some friction, maybe we can get Devs to make a move on that. Optimistic!!!

  • Yeah, let's count on that?

Anyone who looks into this thread, maybe has same setup and has found a fix?

All of this is just hail mary passes in the hope of it fixing things, sadly.

I'm in the same boat as you "FckMeSideways". tried so many steps and nothing works for more than a match and usually not even a single match.

Frustrating when you love a game so much but it doesn't work.

I'd fricking pay $60 usd or whatever a regular AAA game costs these days just to have the damn think work the way it did for me before I was dumb enough to update my nvidia drivers from 417.71 to 418.81. Thats how addicted to the game I am, but alas that isn't a "magical" option.

Even stranger for me, rolling back to driver ver. 417.71 or even earlier doesn't fix the issue. I was convinced at first back on Sun Feb 9th when I updated to the newest drivers it was the nvidia driver that fux'd things up. But now after 3 days of troubleshooting, hour after hour after hour of trying fixes and reading msg boards, I am not so sure it's the driver anymore. And instead something with the game itself.

If it helps I get the impression Respawn is well aware of the issue, it's EA that is being opaque. Though as you said Respawn could be more transparent and communicative with their troubleshooting steps. Any sort of frank communication goes a long way to placate the fans imo.

P.S. I also work in IT. We'd call it a Tier 1 Incident. Large number of clients affected a large amount of the time. So it would be a top priority issue to fix, all hands on deck, all dev on other work halted till the incident/issue is resolved. But as the game is a massive hit and making money I suspect hand over fist the incentive to treat the issue that way is weakened.

If the numbers they report are true and 25million downloads total by last weekend, 2 million concurrent players, and I'm sure it's even more now. If it was 25mil and only 10% of your player base is affected with these issues, that's still 2.5 MILLION customers who are pooched. How many video game companies dream of having 2.5 million customers, let alone 25 million.
