Create2DTexture failed

Hi, I get this CreateTexture2D failed error on numerous occasions...

Sometimes it happens when a teammate jumps off a high location and I get the same error with 'maxdept#' or some calculation failed as subtext.

I've even tried clean boot as mentioned in another post but that didn't work

I've also performed a clean installation of my nvidia drivers (gtx 1070) and have latest windows updates

I've attached screenshot of error and dxdiag

    Hey guys

I tried turning down texture detail from "Insane(8GB)" to a more modest 4GB and have had zero issues since. Have played a few matches since and game engine works like a charm! 🙂

    Hi all,

I've been wanting to play Apex since the release date but every time I try and launch the game, my game crashes and it says '[Engine Error] CreateTexture2D (and then a different file every time). I've tried reinstalling launcher, reinstalling the launcher and the game at the same time, updating, resetting the game files, and verifying my files. Still the same error every time. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'VE ATTACHED MY DXDIAG FILE BELOW

This was also happening with me as you can see I commented down below but now it is corrected. The thing is decrease you VRAM Consumption from settings and set is accordingly. I am using right now for 2-3gb section
  • CreateTexture2D failed to create texture shadowdepthatlas0 with HRESULT 0x8007000e.

Sometime the engine error is _rt_ updatedepth#1#6 or other error with 0xc000012f.

I reinstall apex legends and origin platform over 7 times, and try use DDU to uninstall the nvidia drive, 417.35, 417.71, 481.81 and 418.91 were not working as well.

yep, most people before or even after playing the game love messing with the setttings. For that particular setting, setting it too high (insane 8gb) is actually causing the problem that everyone is experiencing. I too have been able to play flawlessly after turning that down to 4gb.

  • You have to switch the dedicated memory of you graphic card by the settings of Apex,, I have a 1050ti so I put 4gb on  Try and let me know

  • Did not worked for me. Or at least the error is different. I don't get the Create2DTexture error anymore, but the game still dies at some point.

  • TO ANYONE HAVING THIS ISSUE IN ANY GAME

problem: this problem is related to loading textures in your game be it ground object or effects texture it can happen before loading making it impossible to load the game you are trying to play or during the gameplay (say your allie kicks some dirt up and it spawns in that SPECIFIC texture that you cant load in causing the crash)

solution (partial) : while there isnt any fix because devs just dont * care you can do some steps and hopefully play you game normally

1: set every graphics settings to lowest possible or off.

this will make it so your game loads in less textures (if your game still crashes then its possible the texture you cant load in is just some base texture the game REALLY needs in this case i cant help you)

2: set ONE of you graphics settings to max or where you desire to play it ( like medium or medium high whatever)

3: load the game and play it and test around to see if it crashes

IF it DOES crashes : congratulations you have found the texture that you cant load. simply keep that settings on lowest possible or where it doesnt crash your game and play the game normally from here on out

IF it DOESNT crash: rinse and repeat with every graphics setting until you find out what is causing the fatal error

(my problem was on modern warfare remastered but it should work IN THEORY with any other games)
