Your screenshot is the same as my quote. It mentions for the same EA account as well, which just means what I'd clarified previously.
You had originally mentioned your PS4 account was quite old. If you've ever played Apex or any other EA titles on that account, it has been linked to an EA account. It's not possible to play Apex without linking to an EA account.
Different EA accounts cannot be merged even prior to this cutoff date. There wouldn't have been a notification as you still wouldn't be able to merge separate EA accounts together regardless, unfortunately.

I think its pretty weird to not let that be possible. How would we know before all this that we did need it all to be on the same EA account? I never even knew before that we were able to link platform accounts to ea accounts. And at one point i started using a different main email adress. So when i started playing on pc, i made a EA account with that email and not the same email as where my Xbox apparently is linked to. So now i wont be able to merge my account since they are not the same EA account.
