It’s just as you saidEA_mplsnow , relinking the original account has not returned my original progress. I guess my journey with Apex is over since I’ve spent too much money to even consider starting over.

If you haven't already, it might be worth checking in with live support to have them take a closer look at the account with you and confirm that the right accounts are linked. In some cases, players found that they linked a different account than expected, which might be applicable in your situation as well, especially if you have several Steam or Xbox accounts.
