RX Vega 56 pulse 8gb - Crashes occur regardless of using stock or custom undervolt settings! Crashing only occurs in Apex no other issues with any other games or 3d applications on my PC. Driver version 20.11.2 (WHQL). I have had no other issues in games since using this driver on release.
All temps etc are normal I have ran sfc and dism scans in cmd. I have reinstalled visual c++ redists.
- What platform are you playing on? - PC
- Origin ID - noshcopter (playing via steam)
- What were you doing leading up to the issue? - Generally happens when running towards enemies or about to start a gunfight, happens in all game modes with any legend. Will either CTD with no error message or CTD with the DXGI error prompt seems to restart my GPU driver each time (Wattman settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure).
- Can you reproduce it? What are the steps? - I haven't found a concrete way to crash every time it just happens randomly between fights in majority of my games, sometimes happens multiple times a game after reconnecting in ranked etc.
- PC players - provide hardware specs, OS version and GPU driver version.
I have done multiple clean installs of the GPU driver using DDU. I have also tried the latest optional driver (20.12.1) a few times and the same results occur.
This has been happening for roughly a week. The game has been running fine with no stability issues on my system through the end of season 7 and beginning of season 8, then suddenly these unexplained crashes started occurring. Occasionally I can play for a few hours without crashes, but most of the time I will crash multiple times in a game or multiple games in a row throughout a longer play session.
I have also tried lowering all my video settings and lowering my fps cap. For example I previously played with the maxed 8gb VRAM setting, crashes will still occur with the 6gb setting. I previously capped fps at 240 with a launch option, I tried removing it (defaults to 144) as a friend mentioned high fps in Apex sometimes causes crashes. Is this worth attempting to lower the cap further to my refresh rate (120hz)? I have no idea if HFR can cause stability issues in this game.
I have verified my files multiple times also and attempted to run the game both on SSD and HDD. I have also completely removed and reinstalled the game. Basically I am out of ideas no suggested fixes seem to work at all ☹️
