EA anti cheat not installed or failed authentication

Attempting to play apex legends gives the error code anti cheat not installed or failed authentication. This is a fresh install, haven't played in a long time. Can't install Easy anti cheat since there is no option to install for apex legends (options are Madden 24, FC 24, FIFA 23, and Battlefield 2024). The Easy anti cheat that's installed with EA game launcher has the only option being Game 104(?). Tried all the support person at EA told me to do in chat such as clear cache, and the installation of Easy anti cheat.

You may need a Windows Update before continuing.

There was an optional update for windows that I installed and restarted my computer. After that I installed a fresh copy of the Easy anti-Cheat installer and the same problem still persists where Apex Legends is not present on the installer at all.
