FPS Drops After Season 14

I have experienced random FPS drops (from around 60-75 to around 12) and its been very annoying because I have never had this problem before. I have been playing since season 12. I don't think my hardware is the issue but who knows. I moved and got a new internet connection, which was shaky at the start but its stabilized now and ping averages at 30 so that probably isn't the problem (I use ethernet). Below are some info about my hardware and what I have done (or what I remember I did anyway). Appreciate any suggestions and help!

Hardware:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics 2.90 GHz
  • RAM: 16.0 GB (15.4 GB usable)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti
  • Windows 11
  • Game Mode: on

What I have done:

  • Verify game files (Steam)
  • Updated GPU driver
  • Graphic settings on Low
  • I fixed mine by running sfc / scan now in command prompt. Had corrupted windows files. Kept getting error in event viewer that had something to do with event id 0 with the gpu

You have to run the command in admin mode. It found like 13 corrupted files on my system.

@JCarregueiro Sometimes lag drops can be caused by some corrupted files.

There is an asset folder that doesn't get repaired when uninstalling/repairing the game, so it will stay like that unless you delete it yourself.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

    1. Press Windows Key + R
    2. Put in %USERPROFILE% and select OK
    3. Go to the Saved Games Folder
    4. Navigate to the Respawn Folder
    5. Navigate to the Apex Folder
    6. Delete the assets folder

These files should be generated again upon startup, possibly causing any issues that came from them.

No settings will reset if you delete the proper folder and it could possibly resolve your issue.

  • Having the same issue drop from 240 fps all the way down to 15 for a sec. Happens alot during weapon reloads, ADS transition, pulling out grenades etc.

    System Specs:

    Windows 11
    I7 9700k @stock speeds

    32GB 3200mhz ram

    1TB NVME SSD

    ROG STRIX Z390-E Motherboard

1 Gbps Fiber internet avg 15ms ping

Have tried underclocking CPU, underclocking RAM, underclocking GPU, I have Tried the Fix you describe here, I have tried reinstalling the game 4 times, verifying files, disabling game mode in windows, disabling resizable bar support, disabling hardware accelerated GPU scheduling, A clean install of windows, Loading the game onto a RAM DISK, updating every driver. IDK what to try anymore.

for me, since season 14, my ryzen 5800x / 6700xt GPU Combo suddenly halfed the FPS while being in the dropship...it looks like SMT Multithreading is not "working" correctly since the season started...

All 16 Threads are nearly maxxed out in the dropship, but max CPU Usage shows only around 50% and my FPS drop down to 100. Before s14, i had 190+ in the first seconds of the game and 240fps before i even touched the ground. I tried anything, the list would take me an hour to write here... and it is for sure nothing hardware related on my side. When i disable SMT, it is exactly the same FPS Number, just with a 100% CPU Usage on all 8 real cores, nearly maxxed out, that is why i believe that something "broke" the SMT Usage in Apex.

As soon as i touch the ground, the game runs perfectly as usual, but yeah, that "weird" CPU Usage in the dropship is something special.

Again, i tried EVERYTHING, and because it is only in Apex, and there are no "special" Ryzenmaster or GPU Profiles, i have no clue where this SMT OFF / APEX LEGENDS Option is hiding maybe somewhere.

(yes, i know that i have a thread about it in detail that is over 2 weeks old...no need to mention it, thanks. I just threw it in here if there is some relation to it for others...)
