FPS_MAX command

Please, bring fps_max command back or some way to lock fps via the game. I have 85Hz monitor and I can't get smooth gameplay when my fps is uncapped - and as a result high input lag (fps_max 85 helped a lot), RTSS doesn't help if I cap fps with it - it feels like VSYNC is turned on, no smoothness in movement at all. You should be aware of situation like mine, if your have high framerate but frame time is not stable with this framerate (especially if your PC is not top tier) - the only way to stabilize frame time (lower frame time = lower input lag) is to lock FPS via engine and not 3rd party programs, so its a big mistake to remove this option.

  • Hey all,

A patch is going live today for all platforms. Full patch notes can be found here.

The following config commands are now enabled:

    • fps_max

    • mat_letterbox_aspect_goal

    • mat_letterbox_aspect_threshold

  • yes i mean tiny freezes, just not smooth game. mainly in skulltown and in other areas it's the worst.
maybe problem is on my side, because i have old cpu i5-4460 3,2GHz , 8gb ram and gpu rx570. i dont have stable 144fps and this is problem i think. i have 60-144 fps because my cpu....
before update i fix it with this command +fps_max 80, but after update doesnt work ☹️

by the way guys sorry my english is really bad. I'm trying :D

  • Not only +fps_max  is fixed but for some reason the problem that I mention in my previous post is fixed too.

Now, just like in all my other games I cap the fps at 76 and the animation is as smooth as possible. I have a 75hz monitor so capping my games at 76 is the best option. In many of my games I can achieve a steady 120fps but I have tested it ALOT , the best result is capping them at 76.

(I dont mean the tearing , Im talking about the smoothness )

Capping them at 75 its the same but it has a little more tearing.(here I mean the tearing  🙂  )

So , from now on , in Apex too, no Sync at all and Im just capping it at 76.

*in a 75hz monitor , 120fps feel more like 60fps compared to the smoothness of capping it at 75-76.  And yes I can easily tell when Im playing something at 60 or at 75fps. (75fps is the minimum in fast fps shooters, on 60 fps you lose track of the enemy while he is strafing 3m in front of you....and of course the best is a 144hz monitor)
