Frame Rate Issue In Game

Hello everyone!

I've been having some issues in game with my frame rate. You see, while in the firing range my frame rate often gets up to 120-130 fps, however as soon as I enter a public game, such as trios, it immediately drops to 40-45, usually not getting past 50.

I've recently turned all my video settings way down, from disabling a variety of components that make the game smoother, to even removing most details such as shadow and character details.

I'm curious why this is happening. Is my gaming laptop not strong enough? What am I missing here?

Here are my specs:

Acer Nitro 5

  • I am also having this issue, except mine is right off startup. I have 10-15 FPS and the game is literally unplayable. I have tested everything on my PC end, and it isn't even using more than 35% of my capabilities to run. I have spent a week on this trying to fix this issue, and last night I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it.

    It worked, until this morning.

I tried to upload an example but the file is "to large"

    Hey guys,

It might help a bit with identifying the issue to have a recording of it.

You can try uploading examples of this on video sharing sites on Youtube, just set them to unlisted if you don't want anyone else to see them.

Also, are you guys playing Apex via the EA App?

If so, try disabling the EA App overlay, as it's known to sometimes cause some problems every now and then.

  • The best way I can explain it without video, is simply put. You start the game, you notice a little latency, nothing terrible. But then you get into a match, and it is like your internet completely dies. You get all the red respawn icons telling you latency issues, and connection lost, but your FPS is below 30. They game isn't allowing you to play it at a higher resolution, and it is SO laggy you cant play it.

I normally play at 300fps, best I have been getting is 25 fps, firing range I get around 50-60. I have already tested all of my items and equipment and it is NOT anything on my end.

And I've ran into a few people who have also dealt with this, so I know it's a weird glitch in the game.

  • Hello!

Glad to see this post get a little bit of attention.

I'm not sure what PhantomBeast is having issues with, but for me it's simply just a drop in frame rate in game is all.

It's not a complex problem, so a video isn't necessarily needed to explain it. Basically I have great FPS during the Firing Range, Main lobby, and other parts of the game that don't involve actual combat. However from the time the "dropship screen" shows up, to pretty much the end of the match, my FPS is just not great.

My specs are in the original post. It's just odd that my FPS would be so good during Firing Range but drop 75% when entering a game.

  • It sounds like we are having the same issue, but seems like mine is more frequent. My FPS drops immediately after I start the game, it can get better but most of the time it won't.

Kendrick, I have noticed if I force increase my Resolution on my PC, start Apex, then restore to correct resolution, the game works better.

Firiing range I will be at 140ish fps, start a game and sit around 50-70. If I don't force my resolution, firing range will be 40-50 and in game will be 10-15fps

I usually play at 300fps, but with the issues I am currently having I'm lucky to get 60.

Sorry for the late response! Been unbelievably busy.

Thank you for the reply. When you mean you "force your PC to a higher resolution," what exactly do you mean? Where in your PC settings do you do this? I'm assuming you mean higher resolution and not higher frame rate. And when you correct it back to the original settings, do you do it in game or do you go back to the settings you tinkered with and change it there?

  • I can force my Nivida graphics resolution to 3840 x 2160. My monitor does not like it and everything is tiny. But scale it up and it's usable. I open Apex, then it adjusts to the "massive" change and glitches out. Then I go over to my Nivida settings and restore the resolution. Then, I change the Apex settings back to what they need to be and its a 50/50 chance i have fixed it. It has been the only helpful thing I have found other than plugging in a ton of launch options in steam and restarting the game.

  • Also, I just got an email back after 2 weeks after submitting a ticket with Apex customer support. Have you tried to do a DNS flush?

If not it also has seemed to help me a little bit.

Windows > CMD > Run as Admin

    type " ipconfig /flushdns "

wait for it to complete and restart the game.

It was one of the only things I haven't tried, but I don't know if THAT was the issue.

I'm sorry but I'm not very savvy when it comes the NVIDIA control panel. Could you provide a detailed description of how to "force" your display settings? As far as I can tell, mine just goes up to 1980x1080, even though it has 144hz.

In relation to the clearing DNS cache, that did absolutely nothing for me. I'm starting to get the feeling that this is Apex's fault more than anything else, poor optimization perhaps.
