Game lags when I move my mouse

I have around 1500 hours on Apex Legends and I have never run into this issue until yesterday. I have this in my Advanced launch options "+fps_max 200". It has worked really well for me and fixed me an issue where the game was really laggy. But yesterday I changed this value from 200fps to 210fps and the issue began. Ive tried removing this command but it didnt help. Whenever I move my mouse my game lags so much. Ive tried decreasing the polling rate but to no success. Only thing that "worked" was decreasing the polling rate to 125hz but even with this the game was really laggy when moving my mouse. Ive used Logitech g502 and I found out that most of the people that use this mouse had the same issues. So I switched my mouse to a Razer Deathadder v2 but the issue persists. I have mouse acceleration turned off.

EA/Origin app somehow turned on the in game overlay and notifications. I turned them all off and this fixed the problem.

Playing Apex daily and was fine, high end PC, no hardware or settings changes. This somehow got turned on and/or is erroring out for some reason.

  • This happened to me last night too.

    High end pc.

No hardware or setting changes that I made (any invisible updates??)

48 hours ago it was fine, 24 hours later I log in and it is unplayable.

There is no FPS drop unless I am moving my mouse. I can strafe, move, shoot, etc. Insane, unplayable FPS drop when moving mouse. Even in menus, if I move my mouse, FPS drops and game stutters.

    All other games are fine.

@gunridden oh my god you're live saver! i had the same stuttering problem and lowering the mouse polling rate to 125hz improves the game's fps although the frame drop still exists but disabling the in game overlay just wipes the problem entirely and I can go back to 1000hz polling rate again! Thank you!

Glad it worked for you guys.

I'm not sure if it turned the setting back on, or if I never turned it off on the EA app and some update behind the scenes started causing it to error out.

Either way, that 100% fixed it. I always to turn any overlay off - in EA, Steam, nvidia, windows, etc.

  • Typical EA, they update their client and turn back on things people disabled...

I am having this issue today, I can barely play the dam game.

When i first launch the EA app. it just opend blank and says "Beta" as it has several times since EA App has been released.

I then had to run it as Administrator for it to finally load and update (EA - get a better App and actually prompt a user for Admin if required to update your app....you make enough dam money, get better talent)

You are right, enabled for me.... EA, do a better job and do not change user settings, especially when your own overlay causes a game to perform like crap.....or how about this, try to actually test your products before unleashing them on the public...
