Been about 3 weeks now of the games performance being terrible across all systems out of the blue. Probably talking to myself here cause my other post got no response but I'm just curious if the games performance is gonna borked forever or there's a fix coming
Not sure what are you talking about, game has been running for me "as good" as ever for past few seasons. No better, no worse.
What cpu you got? I know it's not just me. Like every pro players frames got way worse
I am on now I guess quite old system: 3600x CPU, DDR4? 16 GB, 5700XT GPU.
Always had issues with Apex since day one I played in back in 2019?, frames has been super unstable no matter what settings I use, only solution was to use quite bad upscaling of AMD (picture quality is very bad) yet somehow upscaling from 1080p to 1440p (yeah I have 2k monitor) makes game somewhat stable and I can run 144 fps most of the time, while actually just setting 1080p resolution does end up with major +/- 20 or more FPS jumps and drops :)
CPU utilization has been high for me - close to 80-90% forever, GPU utilization though despite unstable performance remains quite low <60% which is the weird part many online say is related to Nvidia optimization and still lack of optimization towards AMD GPUs => why basically everyone runs Apex on Nvidia.
Sounds like you've always been cpu bottlenecked so it's hard for you to notice the recent drop of performance

But at the same time for some reason things like thermite granades (assume animation) creates major FPS drops just on the spot + does not ramp up GPU at the same time -> CPU seems to be doing something all the time, temps are normal (no thermal throttling), there is still some 10%+ left in the tank yet GPU just does not ramp up and seemingly all metrics remain the same no matter if I do 100 or 200 FPS which is just weird.
Adding to that my FPS drops happened to so many random reasons over the years:
When I play borderline hardware compatible games e.g. Expedition 33 or Last of us, my PC goes crazy = temps go 80+C, fans ramp up, GPU is 100% utilized, CPU is 100% utilized etc. which totally makes sense, but Apex with this weird combo and most importantly no real gain from just resolution change - I even ran 720p on 2k monitor which was impossible to play due to image quality, yet my FPS were still lagging, all settings off, even modified cfg file to turn basically everything off (one step away from so called Apex potato graphics which were bannable and possible only through Nvidia panel)...
Also I have suggested many times to people who test hardware to use Apex Legends as one of the game / asked questions why they don't use it (especially during COVID times when gaming was all time high and so was Apex)...no reply. I assume because people know that Apex is just badly done and can't be representative. Basically you need only Nvidia and preferably top tier card to run it without issues at any given moment in time.
That's normal. Lotta games won't utilize 100% the gpu and especially cpu even when bottlenecked. You're 100% cpu bottlenecked. My cpu doesn't even go above ~55% utilization since they screwed up the game, even though my frames are dropping.
I know it's not just me too cause I've been watching pro scrims and a lot of these guys with 14900s etc. frames are terrible now when the used to be locked. I get this isn't csgo and people that play apex don't care about performance that much but it's crazy seeing people dropping to 100-150 frames in a competitive setting and not even caring or noticing. They tanked performance over 33% over night and nobody cares lol. It's wild to me
