How to fix running on low cpu clock speed but temp increase in Apex Legends

Hi everyone!

SPECS:
Intel I5-9300h
GTX 1660ti mobile
16GB ddr4 ram

windows 11

I recently realized that whenever I play Apex Legends, my CPU is always running 2.0ghz while other run 3.9ghz when gaming.  Since its only running that speed, I don't understand why my CPU temps increase really greatly and my processes only reach 50% task manager. Its been running like this for a while and I cant seem to find anything to solve it. I hope someone will be able to help me fix this issue.

Thanks in Advance!

    Hey @AKKUKINSHRIMP

    That's definitely weird. Could you share a DxDiag when you have the chance?

    For more info on how to pull one up check out the EA Help website. Once you have the text file please attach it to this thread. Thank you!

    @AKKUKINSHRIMP

    Thank you! I appreciate that.

    Have you had the chance to try starting up your PC in a Clean Boot before you launch Apex Legends to see if that makes any difference? If there's something else running that could be related to the CPU clock issues that may help to narrow it down.

    For more info on how to set up a Clean Boot check out the EA Help website. Once you have the chance to give it a shot please let me know how it goes. Thanks!

  • I have. I clean installed windows but no luck the issue was still there and I am still not sure what is causing it. Here is a screenshot of the stats when I launch the game and when I run a game afterwards.

    Thanks for the update!

    Have you checked the fan curves in your BIOS to make sure they're set up correctly? I'm curious if the temperatures are getting hot enough that the CPU is starting to throttle itself.
