Huge Packet Loss on EU Servers + Workaround

I live in Israel. Usually connect to the Frankfurt 2 / 1 Datacenter and get ~70 ping and 0% packet loss on them

This is now the 3rd time the game suggests I connect to Singapore / US with a 200+ ping (which is unplayable BTW).

my usual Datacenters now get -1 ping and 100% packet loss  (see attached file regular.png).

I went through all the troubleshooting steps documented:

- Admin Privileges on Apex & Origin EXE

- IPConfig shenanigans

- Router + PC reboot

- Disable firewall + Uninstall Anti-virus (yes, just to rule them out)

- Run UOTrace against easo.ea.com (which is useless BTW since that URL is not related to any Apex Datacenter)

- Clear origin cache

- Clear temporary files

- Use CCleaner

- Port Forwarding

Nothing helped. Then out of curiosity due to a comment I found on a site called hardforum about Titanfall 2, I installed one of the free VPNs available (Windscribe), connected to a node in Germany and Voila! I get no packet loss and the ping I usually expect from Frankfurt 2 (see attached file WithVPN.png).

What does this mean? Is the bad routing due to EA or due to my ISP?

The VPN has a data cap so its not really a solution...

    Hey @kdizzy07 it's your ISP's job to route your data so if they are not doing it correctly then you can run into issues.


    The UO Trace is simply a tool for us to test your connection to a fixed server to see how your ISP is routing data and yours is showing some very high ping times before you reach the EA servers. Have you tried running the UO Trace with your VPN on to see if it makes a difference to the results?

    Attached is the UOTrace with the VPN ON. To me at least It doesn't seem to make a difference but I think that high ping is expected because easo.ea.com is a US server.

    I know that by looking at free IP to map tools online and by the hops with ".us." in them. These don't appear when I UOTrace directly to the Frankfurt Datacenter (see attached UOTRace_VPN_frankfurt).

    I checked this morning and I don't see the issue but I'm sure it will come back.

    I'm also pretty sure the issue is not my ISP.

    Yesterday when I experienced the issue I came across this website: https://gameserverping.com/apex

    I saw the same ping I got in the game and it suggested a US Server. Frankfurt was around 300-500ms

    When I checked other games on that website (Overwatch, Pubg, Fortnite) I saw normal ping times from EU servers (below 100ms)

    I'm open to any suggestions you guys have the next time I see the problem, I'm not in love with my ISP.

    P.S If anyone wonders, there are no Israel / Middle-East servers for Apex (or almost any other game). we always connect to EU servers and it works well.
