Invites not working on apex legends

I play on PlayStation 5 and so does my fiend. We are unable to invite each other to apex, but we are able to start a party chat. Can see each other online in the apex invite menu. But freezes for a few seconds and doesn't send out invite. Tried inviting through the play station friends list and still does not work. I can invite everyone else on my friends list and join up anyone else. It's just my one friend.
