Latency spikes on Xbox One

Hello,

I've been having issues playing Apex since mid season 8 beginning of season 9. It feels like every 15-20 seconds like I teleport a tiny bit. It's minor , however very annoying as it's consistent and makes it difficult to aim and pick things up.

I play on an Xbox One hardwired to my router. I've tried over wifi as well and I get the same issue. I have tried bypassing the router entirely and hardwired into my modem and I get the same issue. Since the issue persists with modem only, I don't believe I have to do port forwarding or change any settings in my router.

I've downloaded the game on my Nintendo switch and don't seem to notice the issue on there.

I played with the network info and it shows absolutely no packet loss/choke. It consistently stays at 60ms on Virginia servers. I tried New York and Virginia 2 as well.

The only thing I notice is the latency will go from 60ms to around 80-90ms EVERY time this stutter happens.

I tried rebooting router/modem/Xbox (hard reset, power cord unplugged). Cleared MAC and changed to Google's DNS in the Xbox.

I've contacted my ISP and am told every time there is no issue on the network and I am inclined to believe them as every test they make me do demonstrates no issue.

I have 120mbps and my NAT type is open when tested on the Xbox.

I'm at a loss at what to do. Apex is one of my favourite games but I don't even feel like playing as it's very frustrating to consistently stutter on every single game. I appreciate any advice on how to fix this.

I should also mention that I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game as well

I have this same exact issue on Xbox that got much worse this season. The problem is it does not seem devs or the support team are willing to admit there is an issue. I tried playing on my laptop for the first time ever today. Guess what? No lag. Not a single prediction error signal in 5 games.
Stop blaming peoples ISP for prediction error on Xbox. I'm playing on PC until they address Xbox issues.

@MagicMeowmix Its been like this for some time on Xbox One. I have also tried everything from hard resets, Mac address, uninstalling, cleaning the Xbox, just everything you could possibly suggest, I have already done.

I have my Xbxo hardwired to the internet and my PC is wireless. I can go on my PC and play buttery smooth with no issues, so that alone tells you it is certainly not my internet. Also I tested all the connections to the xbox and everything is 100% fine. Every game runs perfect on it except Apex Legends.

The only conclusion I have come to is that the game is no longer optimized to run smoothly on last gen consoles after the latest patch and EA Support cannot tell us that because they aren't allowed to. They can only offer suggestions and hope they actually help (which none of them do). It is unfortunate, but its what it is looking like.

@snickertwix9 Same exact for me. I played wireless on PC, not even hard wired and it was perfect. They seem to be leaving last gen behind and not optimizing for it.

@MagicMeowmix One last thing I wanted to add, I tried this with two different Xbox Ones. One that is roughly 6 years old and one that is 2 years old. Both had the same outcome which leads me to believe the hardware simply cant handle Apex in its current state.

Sorry for the late reply. Here are the results. I tested directly into the modem with the router out of the equation. I also factory reset the modem in between the two.

@EA_Aljo mate please stop trying to put this on the users, have your team actually address this issue. It's clear something introduced in season 9 has caused this problem for Xbox One players, and I can't see how it's a hardware limitation when it was fine beforehand and there's been no significant features added - in fact World's Edge experiences the stuttering the most and it was working fine before S9. Please don't waste players time by suggesting basic connection troubleshooting

@cdiro I agree, but in afraid it is the only "help" they can offer. I think they pretty much have their hands tied because they can only make suggestions for the user and not place blame on the company at fault.

I'd appreciate some honesty in this situation more than giving people the runaround for hours and weeks though. EVERYONE I play with on Xbox One is experiencing it. It is not all of our internet either. Especially when we can play any other game with zero issues.

Here is to hoping they iron things out before everyone quits out.

The connection to your router is pretty rough. Was this test run over wireless? If so, is it from the same location as your Xbox? If that's true, that looks like your issue. The worst ping to your router should be in the single digits if wired, but wireless will be significantly higher and less stable. Since you have tried playing wired, it would be good to see a wired test as well.
