Linking/Unlinking Different Steam Accounts
I have mainly played on Xbox since launch, but there was a short time I played on pc which lead to me creating a second EA account linked to my Steam with progress I no longer care for (let's call this "EA2"). However, because of my Xbox account previously using my older brother's email, his Steam account was linked to my EA account that has all my Xbox progress (this will be "EA1"). Now he no longer plays Apex and doesn't care about his Steam progress if lost, I've also changed emails since. I'm asking if I can *safely* change the Steam account currently linked to EA1 to my Steam account instead of his without compromising anything from EA1's linked Xbox account so I can play on pc with my Xbox account's progress and content. Basically:
EA1 = Xbox + brother's Steam > Xbox + my Steam
EA2 = only my Steam > nothing
After reading dozens of horror stories with people losing some or all their content and progress, I'm worried of unlinking/linking any platforms. So is this safe to do? I have already received the prompt on Xbox and pc.
- Hey @unhandypandora,
The bigger problem than potentially losing progress is that an EA account can only ever be linked to one of a particular type of account in its lifetime. So even if you unlink your brother's Steam account, you won't be able to link your own Steam account to that EA account. We have some more info in this article about that:
