Linux players getting banned
Edit: Looks like they fixed the issue causing the bans. Edit 2: EA is reversing bans and sending out emails letting you know. Yay! Hello, I believe myself and a few others got banned for just playi...
First, I really recommend reading this threads and the last comments on it:https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Linux-players-getting-banned/td-p/12338557/highlight/false
This post is a new one so the people that are experiencing this same issue recently, can talk about their situation, a lot of us know that doing a thread here have really low chances to get us unbanned, but since EA support do nothing but sending the same copy and paste answers, saying that “we checked the situation, and we are not removing the ban blahblah” (which is a complete lie, since on Linux the chances of someone running a cheat is really low, mostly cause the fact that cheats are not even made for Linux operating systems.
Also, before anyone else decides to comment blaming the operating system, remember that linux is officially supported for EA and Respawn, mostly for the fact that the steam deck (valve console) and proton (steam compatibility tool) support it and run it just fine.
Now, for my personal situation, like everyone, I got the error "The client's game account has been banned: Banned" and the email saying that i cheat one day after the ban.
I was using Nobara 38, playing apex on steam with proton-ge + latencyflex, another stuff was:
obs-gamecapture
gamemode
mangohud
my launch options: PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_NVAPI_DRIVER_VERSION=49729 DXVK_NVAPI_ALLOW_OTHER_DRIVERS=1 LFX=1 obs-gamecapture mangohud gamemoderun %command% -dev
Before I got banned, I barely play mixtape and ranks since the last season was very easy, the day before getting ban I was doing challenges to unlock points and get some free apex packs, since the event of valk prestigue skin was live.
I proceed to contact EA support expecting some reasonable explanation, I receive nothing but “we have done the necessary investigation, and you are banned blah blah” I proceed to contact them again, explaining even more my situation, guess what I receive. Exactly the same message, a couple more times and the message changes to no more replies, I keep insisting and instead of receiving messages in English or Spanish which are the languages I speak, they send me a message in German, in German when I don't even have my account in that region, they sent 3 messages in German copied and pasted, literally…
I have 4000 hours in game, 800 on origin and 3300 on steam.
With all that being said, you can comment your personal experience, hopefully we can find a way to solve this since EA support stop giving you real answers about your case after 3 disputes.

You guys may also want to comment on the original post too, it's still somewhat active: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Linux-players-getting-banned/td-p/12338557/highlight/false/page/18
It may help to file 1 appeal (just 1 - don't spam, you'll eventually get shadowbanned), linking to these reports. Suggest it's a widespread problem, and ask the representative escalate to someone who can investigate (because they can't/won't). Last time this happened I think someone said the appeal reps just have an anti-cheat portal in front of them, where the portal lists simple/vague statements about what you were banned for, and that's it. They can't do much. But make them aware, and ask them to escalate if possible.
I'm curious if @Tutur85140 is still banned, since they were using LFX as well. Were you also using R4csu's launch options? Or was anyone else in this thread using these two options? (WARNING: DO NOT USE THESE - POSSIBLE RISK OF BAN):
DXVK_NVAPI_DRIVER_VERSION=49729 DXVK_NVAPI_ALLOW_OTHER_DRIVERS=1 %command%
@UngerGamesNah, I'm done with this game for good. Already refunded everything and not even gonna check.
I hope they gonna unban lil bro @RacsuChile tho
Copying my post from the original Linux Ban thread.
+1 banned Linux/Proton user here, and sadly got the banhammer suddenly about about 5 hours ago now out-of-the-blue. NEVER CHEATED, played the game for 435 hours already (according to Steam), and was just playing a couple of Trios & LTM games w/ my friend when suddenly I got the "this client has been banned: banned" Error when we were entering the Firing Range. This error persists whenever I try to enter a game, but weirdly I'm still able to access my Lobby (even though from what I understand banned accounts are not even supposed to be able to enter Lobby?)
PC specs are as follows (mostly same specs as @ungergames PC):
- Kernel: 6.4.6-76060406-generic
- DE: GNOME 42.5
- Theme: Pop-dark [GTK2/3]
- Icons: Pop [GTK2/3]
- Terminal: gnome-terminal
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
- RAM: 32GB
I'm currently logged in to my Win 10 dual-boot to double-check the ban, so I'll update the specs w/ Launch options I used. IIRC it's supposed to be the default one set by Steam initially.
I was thinking that the 'ban' maybe due some Linux-EAC hiccup that may have occurred due to recent update, but sadly switching to Win10, ban is still active on Win 10, so it's not just a bug.
I tried running the game through EA App in Windows 10, and it seems the EA Account is already linked to the Steam account, so my ban already effected the EA account as well. Just written a support request, and will be updating if there are any updates.
If my hunch is correct and indeed this issue is triggered again due to recent patch, I'm expecting similar reports to be flooding in within the next few days. In which case, hope this 'false positive' ban gets resolved soon.
One 'funny' thing I'd like to note is that the ban doesn't seem to get synced w/ my EA account, as it doesn't show up when I check for 'Ban History', as seen in screenshot. Either this is further proof that the ban I got was 'false positive', or EA's system broken again causing the de-sync.
So an update to my original post: The ban finally got synced (but only about 12+ hours after I got the ban from the Apex game itself, thanks EA/Respawn), and I got a reply from the contact support.
Sadly it seems just like everyone who've tried, I got the same message that "we did a full investigation and determined that we took correct action in accordance w/ EA policies and procedures". The only "explanation" that they gave is repeating the ToS section 6 of what is considered "breaking our rules", as seen in screenshot. But, just like everyone in this thread, I didn't even use any kind of mods/external software when I'm playing to begin with, just a casual play session of the game w/ my friend.
Needless to say I'm flabbergasted. No, I'm not mad, just VERY Disappointed with this, and especially sad for y'all w/ >1k+ hours in the game w/ heirloom who've also gotten a similar ban treatment, just cuz we chose to game from Linux.
I'll be posting this update on the Reddit thread too, but needless to say this is a very bad look for Steam Deck & Linux users who's at a high-risk of getting banned with such damning precedent.
Thanks I guess Respawn, sincerely, a bitter fan that supported you from the first (yes FIRST) OG Titanfall.
