Major server LAG/rubber banding issues.

Can we please address this problem?

Usually this lag/rubber banding happens at the beginning of the match when you land. Stuck in slow motion, warping back and forth, etc etc. Occurs randomly during the game or even lasts through the whole game (actually very often). This is just horrible, the game is unplayable at times.

It's not just me.

When it happens it happens to everyone in the match, it's crystal clear fact. People being stuck in the mid air or running still and dying outside the zone due to not being able to get to safe zone fast enough. The game is at a point where big number of people get random crash during the game, then big numbers of the remaining players die outside the rings due to lag. A lot of the streamers are talking about this issue time to time and experiencing it mid streams.

There is no fix.

This is clearly server issue, something happening on the other side, (not ours). No trick can fix this, this is something devs has to solve on their side and of course they will eventually. It would just seem like servers are over stressed, early in the morning I don't experience any connection problems.

There is a way to choose your server(datacenter) though, this works on consoles and PC.

- This is how to do it on PC:

  1. When you startup the game DON'T press any keys to proceed to the lobby
  2. wait ~60 seconds in the screen which tells you to "press any key.."
  3. Then press ESC once and cancel. When you cancel "datacenters" button should appear bottom of your apex legends screen.
  4. click it and choose whatever server has the lowest ping.

- This is how to do it on consoles:

  1. Wait two minutes on the title screen
  2. Enter accessibility settings
  3. Exit and press R3
  • This helped me a little with the lag, but did not remove it completely.
  • Thanks for sharing some steps that can help alleviate some of the lag or rubberbanding. Some PC users might have Killer Control Center which could be related to rubberbanding.

The team is aware of slow server performance and mentioned this in the 3.8.2019 update.

SLOW SERVER PERFORMANCE AT THE START OF MATCHES

We’ve seen these reports and are narrowing down causes and making improvements. If this could be fixed by spending money on faster/more servers we would do it, but unfortunately there is no silver bullet on this one. We’re just rolling up our sleeves and digging in. We’ll keep you updated on any progress we make.

    I like what I see!

I'm looking forward to seeing all this being fixed, and I know it'll happen eventually.

I don't have killer control center but I do have other Killer programs due to my gaming motherboard manufacturer being MSI, never used them so I have disabled or uninstalled most of them. My Network adapter is from Killer too.. So I guess the dots connect here.

Though I've played with people/friends that don't have MSI motherboards and vastly different setups but we all still experience the lag and rubberbanding at the very same moment. So I'm guessing that I can happily say that my Killer network adapter isn't causing these problems in my end, when I experience lag the whole server is crippled by it too. 🙂

Of course I knew that this issue was already being looked into, but I'm so glad to see it being brought up in update. Instead of receiving empty fix copy pasta that blames me for having bad PC and followup with ending line that tells me that my system is corrupted and no good. :eahigh_file:

Good luck and hope y'all find fix that benefits us all!

  • this stuff is still happening, I have golden ping that sits at 40 at all times with no packet loss yet I am always rubber banding along with my buddies just played 4 games in a row and died due to rubber banding, as of right now I would not recommend players playing this game, hope to see this fixed soon.

I have tested my ISP connection with dsl reports and have A+,A,A+ yet I am constantly rubber-banding. Two steps forward one step back.

Well, two years later it's still happening.

Jittery play and terrible hit registration are making this game a miserable experience.

With an average ping of around 30ms, I'd have expected better performance, but something is off for sure.
