Mouse lag for seemingly no reason?

I've always had very weird mouse lag where it feels really hard/heavy to move my mouse randomly and I always thought it was due to fps dips/no raw input but as it turns out that is not even the case.

Since season 12 is out and olympus was updated I have noticed on quite a few spots my mouse is close to unusable like in solar array. I am holding 100+ fps easily basically everywhere at almost all times except some certain occasions but in solar array I'm easily around 140 which is weird as to why my mouse becomes unusable? On other areas of the map my fps can dip down to 100-90 and my mouse will work just fine as if absolutely nothing happened, yet in solar array that's not the case. This is also not a solar array exclusive issue, it just happens seemingly at random, but it's a very consistent issue that happens only on certain places of the maps when looking in certain directions which always lead me to believe it was an fps issue, but it clearly isn't.

I have looked at my cpu/gpu/hdd/ssd usage, temps, windows defender and there is nothing to suggest that this lag should be happening at all.

Temps are easily around 60 on both gpu and cpu if even.

CPU usage is high in my opinion for a game like apex at around 80% but when the mouse issues happen there is no spike whatsoever or any increase at all? Sometimes my cpu even reaches almost 100 which is insane to me but my mouse is NOT affected at all in those cases so it seems to have no correlation whatsoever because I sometimes get it even when it's as low as 40%. In solar array which is the more consistent place to replicate this I get around 75% cpu usage.
My gpu is sitting at 100% usage but that's just how it goes. Capping my fps so the usage is lower doesn't solve this issue at all. Vsynch does not solve this either.
I play on low graphics except textures and resolution, lowering both has no effect whatsoever on this issue.
My RAM or VRAM are nowhere near capping out either.
When this occurs my hdd or ssd usage is not affected at all.
When this occurs, there is no weird program acting up in the background like windows defender.

Basically I can just walk up to solar array and as long as I'm looking towards it and I'm close my mouse gets bricked, I look away and it's fine. The whole POI is just the easiest spot to replicate this issue at. The other spot that I can think of is the waterfall at hammond labs but my fps actually drops by almost 200 there so I always assumed it's because of that.

My specs are:
i7 8700k running at 5ghz

gtx 1070
16gb 3000mhz ram
The game is installed on an nvme m2 970 evo pro ssd which is not full/close to full.

My MOUSE is a razer deathadder and I have razer synapse (maybe related?). I know some games (usually betas) have an issue with synapse? Turning it off is absolutely out of question though because then it's actually proper unusable.

Removing overclocks and turning xmp off has no effect whatsoever.

An other thing worth noting is that when this happens, there is incredible screen tear and the game FEELS like it's running in significantly lower fps than what it actually is.

AN IMPORTANT THING I HAVE NOTICED HOWEVER IS THAT THIS ISSUE DOES NOT OCCUR ON MY CONTROLLER AT ALL!

So, this leads me to believe it is somehow related to synapse or my mouse maybe? However this is THE ONLY GAME that has this specific issue where it can be replicated with consistency 100% of the time on the same exact spots every time, and the fact that when using my controller the issue is not present leads me to believe this cannot be a hardware pc related issue.

Has anybody experienced this? This is not a new problem either, I've basically always had this since the start of apex when it originally released, however it was hardly present on kings canyon. To me it feels like there is no raw input at all on the mouse and it's somehow tied to fps and because of how volatile it is, it causes the mouse to act up?

  • I have tested this on 2 different computers which are the following:

    Machine 1:
    i5 4690k (stock)
    gtx 1060
    8gb 1600mhz ram
samsung 860 evo ssd (game is installed on this)
No razer related product or razer synapse

    Machine 2:
    i7 9700k @ 4.7 ghz
    gtx 1080 ti
    32gb 3200 mhz ram
samsung 970 evo pro (game is installed on this)
Razer synapse installed with a razer keyboard

On the first PC the issue is basically the same but basically happens everywhere, despite holding easily 60+ fps the mouse issues are happening in the exact same way and I was easily able to replicate them in Solar Array where it was the most extreme. On this same PC both CPU and GPU were capping out at 100% at all times, no temp issues though.

On the second PC there were no issues at all with either the mouse or the fps at any point. CPU was capping at 100% a lot more than my 8700k which is very funny but it didn't cause anything noticeable.

In conclusion this makes absolutely no sense at all. How can 3 machines which can hold 60+ fps see completely different results even when running at the same framerate? 1 of which runs at 60 but looks NOTHING like 60 fps half the time. Controller is somehow completely unaffected but the mouse becomes laggy and slow.

  • I have been suffering from this same issue for the longest time now. One thing that completely fixed it (temporarily) for me, was completely uninstalling Apex on Origin (as well as Origin itself) and installing Apex on Steam. The game was running beautifully for the entire night. Then, the next morning, I got stutters again. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I am using the Superlight which is a wireless mouse. My current working theory is bad electrical grounding at my house. I read online that bad grounding can lead to electromagnetic interference which can disrupt the functioning of devices and that it tends to be less of a problem at night. Not sure if that's what's causing the issue, but it's a possibility that I'm willing to consider, considering the fact that nothing else I have tried has worked. I have been working to solve this issue for an entire year now and must have tried hundreds of solutions. I have tested every suggestion on YouTube, EA Forums, and Reddit. Let me know if you miraculously figure out a solution...

@heckminth emi also hurts other games too and the whole os, if u feel high input lag at day time and smooth game at night then its 100% emi, try to go to a friends house, or buy a new mouse and use that new mouse somewhere else.

buddy i tried 1000 fixes, tweaks, updates, nothing works or it will work temporarily, im almost quiting pc gaming bc of this issue
