Same thing. Apparently it's there on consoles but it appears to be absent on PC.
If you use the 'borderless window' instead of fullscreen it'll use your desktop brightness settings, at least with Windows 10. It's not a perfect solution but it helped for me. Also something to note with borderless window, it appears to potentially make vsync stop working, at least adaptive vsyncs.
There isn’t one yet. I predict it’ll be added pretty soon if they care about the PC players at all.
I recommend against borderless window, gameplay is much less smooth.
Lets just wait wait and hope they add a preserve system gamma option like the Witcher 3 has.
I have come across uncalibrated monitor issues a lot in other games.
Full brightness is not the best setting.
Take some time and calibrate your monitor using this website: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
Its much more accurate than default windows calibration.
Once its calibrated properly you may never have to touch brightness settings in games again.
If you are using a cheap AF monitor with poor contrast that you need to increase the brightness then you have my sympathy. 😃
Have you even played the game???
The game cranks the brightness up by itself in fullscreen mode, with no option to fix it.
No offense, but your advice is useless.
There is no way for an ordanary monitor to recieve commands from a PC to change a monitors controls unless the brightness was too high to begin with and the game just utilises the higher ranges that your other game do not.
Most games have their own internal brightness/gamma setting applied on top of any desktop setting as most games fullscreen setting traditionally expects full control of the picture. This is the problem some users are finding, that this added and currently nonadjustable setting is making their games too bright in comparison to their desktop settings. Windowed or Borderless Window will use the calibrated desktop settings at the expense of typically disabling vsync, which can be equally problematic.
But I digress, I think I have a solution for the time being!
Navigate to this folder:
(OS main drive, probably C):\Users\(your PC's user profile)\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\localIn this folder you will find a text file called 'videoconfig'
Open this file with notepad, search for the line "setting.gamma" it should be the second last setting towards the bottom of the document.
This will be set "1.000000"
To decrease the setting you have to INCREASE the number, so if you find your game is too bright you could try adjusting it to "2.000000" as a baseline, SAVE AND CLOSE THE FILE, then boot up the game to see how that looks. If it is too dark begin decreasing the value by 0.1-2 units, or continue increasing it if is still too bright. My over-brightness issue was minor, so I only had to increase the value to about "1.500000"
I really hope this helps folks, but clearly there is supposed to be a slider in the game to adjust this setting that is absent currently on PC.
IF THIS HELPS, LET OTHERS KNOW! :eahigh_file:
- Thanks for the help. Just ignore the other guy, he clearly must be trolling.
