Re: Apex legends: SettingsDX12.json not found (EA Client)

By the way, there is actually no file named "SettingsDX12.json" in the game directory/EasyAntiCheat/. Just the "SettingsDX11.json" and "Settings.json" files.

The settings for DX12 are simply missing 🙂 The "Settings.json" is the DX12 file - the exe (r5apex_dx12.exe) is pointing on the wrong settings file (SettingsDX12.json), thats it.

Start the game with the argument (EA Client): "-anticheat_settings=Settings.json" - no error and, i think, dx12 (there is no ingame notification).

  • @Frontal021 Did you solve your problem? I have the same problem. In the client, you selected Apex and then Manager and then View Priority and then in the launch options, you inserted that text or what? Help
  • Hello!

Yes, it solved the problem! In EA Client u go to: library->(installed)->apex->three points in the upper right cornerof apex symbol->property->advanced startup settings and there u have to insert the argument.

    Good luck!

@Frontal021 & @shchitinka As you both had mentioned, you do go to the game's properties tab, and then to the game's launch options.

    EA App:

    1. Head to “My Collection”
    2. Click on the three dots located in the upper right corner of Apex Legends
    3. Select “View Properties”
    4. Under Advanced Launch Options, add “-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json”, (without the quotes)
    5. Click on the Save button

    Steam:

    1. Go to your library and right-click on Apex Legends
    2. From there, select "Properties"
    3. Add the line “-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json”, (without the quotes), to the Launch Options
    4. Close the properties window

    Epic Games:

    1. Go to your library and right-click on Apex Legends
    2. From there, select "Manage"
    3. Turn on the "Launch Options" setting
    4. Add the line “-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json”, (without the quotes), to Launch Options
    5. Click out of the settings window

Note: If you have the game installed through the EA App, but are running it through Epic Games, you would enable the setting in the EA App, as Epic Games won't show the "manage" option when you right click on the game.

    Hello!

No, dont do that - this is misleading.

There is no file named "SettingsDX12.json" - there is only a file named "Settings.json".

The right argument is: “-eac_launcher_settings Settings.json”, (without the quotes)

@Frontal021 Hmm, I use “-eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json”, but I see that there's other arguments to use, such as "-anticheat_settings=SettingsDX12.json", so I'm sure which one we're suppose to use.

If “-eac_launcher_settings Settings.json” works for you, then use that instead.

@Frontal021@shchitinka, & @Beventa For now, I would switch back to DX11, (which should just be removing the arguments from the launch options).

I say that because there's currently a few issues with DX12 since the Astral Anomaly patch. For me, I'm having a lot of frame stuttering, while others weren't able to launch the game due to "SettingsDX12.json not found" or another similar error.

You can read more about the current issues with DX12 on @EA_Mako's thread here.

  • Hey Guys,

I have read several pages and done mutiple changes just to fix the DX12 issue.

I still cant start up Apex.

I have lost about 9-10h on finding a soulution.

    None Startup-argument helps.

Would be great if someone could help me.

Even EA-Help couldnt help me, as they are just posting links in the cutomer service chat and leading me to do it on my own.

    PLS HELP ME!!!!

I manage to resolve my frame stuttering issue. Turns out the program "Razer Cortext" was causing the issue. Since I mainly use Razer Synapse, I've removed Razer Cortext.

@Curs3d_M3nac3 When you had put in the argument, did you enter it like so:

  • Thanks so much.

I typed it in as in the picture.

    Now I get another error.

The word "Startfehler" means Start-Error in german.

    What should I do now?

@Curs3d_M3nac3 From what I can tell, it seems to be an issue with the Easy Anti-Cheat.

You could try reinstalling or repairing the game's files. But, I've never ran into the issue myself, so I'm not fully sure how to resolve it.
  • It is an EAC issue.

But reinstalling and repairing isnt helping, ive dont each about 3 times already haha.

    EA-Blocked e from the EA-Help Customer service.

    THX anyway.

So the better way is just to copy the file Settingsdx11.json put it in another directory rename Settingsdx12.json and bring back to it's directory....

  • Same here, since updating the game 2 weeks ago i haven't been able to play. Even reinstalling windows and without any app that could cause an exception to anticheat.

Doesnt matter wich version i tired to open DX11 or DX12.
