Re: Can't play on the same router (Xbox)

Hello, @Theetinman87 and @MunsTheFool

UPnP is often the cause of this. Make sure it's enabled. Also, check the NAT setting on both consoles. This is displayed when you look at the network settings. If it says Strict, this needs to be changed on your router to either Open or Moderate. Let me know what happens. Thanks!

  • My Unpn is usually on I just tried disabling it to see if that might work since some people recommended it. My NAT on both Xbox’s is set to open.

  • No they are not, we each have different  ea accounts. We moved recently and at our previous house we could play together, now we can’t. I tried all the tricks in the book to get it to where we could play together again and nothing has worked, disabling enabling upnp hardwiring one of them, port forwarding (my router doesn’t have port triggering) static ip, manually changing ip addresses on each Xbox.

Are you still using the same networking equipment from your previous house or did that change with the move?

  • I am using different equipment than previously, I was using fiberoptic before but now we are not.

Thanks for the response. Try clearing the alternate MAC address on both systems with the following steps:

    Go to your Xbox Settings
Go to "Network", then "Advanced Network Settings"
Click on "Alternate MAC Address", and then click "Clear"

If that doesn't help, try using alternate DNS settings with these instructions. From the Xbox home screen, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual. (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings). From there, enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220". If that doesn't help, try using the google DNS servers which are: primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - secondary alt number 8.8.4.4.
