Blueberry, thanks for the tip. I found out the problem was with the razer chroma SDK server and the SDK service. Stopping these 2 services before launching the game lets me play the game without crashes.

Funny how this issue appeared only after the previous apex patch. Or perhaps my razer synapse software updated without letting me know...
