To confirm you need to have a platform account like Steam linked to play Apex Legends.
Have you recently tried unlinking the Steam account from it's EA account to link it to a new EA account?
If so, your progress and items will not go with you as they are stored on the EA account (not Steam).
Also, we are unable to remove the linking/unlinking cooldown, so once the time is up you can relink the Steam account to attempt to recover your items and progress.
