@xkarqkarqxyou should definitely buy a second one! With two RAM sticks it runs in dual channel, in single channel mode you lose ~40% fps, depends on the application.
@xkarqkarqx look at this by the way -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k5wA7EFwpo
UPDATED #SEASSON 15:
First things first:
- Disable vsync
- Disable gsync/freesync (also in your monitor settings if it is aviable)
- Disable Windows Game Mode
- If you have a AMD card, don't use enthance snyc and AMD antilag, leave all that stuff disabled
- NVIDIA: Set low latency mode: OFF, threaded optimization: OFF
- Set Nvidia Reflex in Apex Legends to: Enable
- Preverred update rate: max avaiable
- Disable fullscreen optimization for Apex (right click the r5apex.exe, r5apex_dx12.exe and EasyAntiCheat_launcher.exe at C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Apex)
- Let Origin /EA App start as admin like this
- You need to unlock your FPS in apex legends by adding this argument to the start options in Origin or Steam (right click the game in library): +fps_max 0
- Also use these start commands: -high -preload
- If you like to skip the intro use: -novid
- You may need to lower you grafic settings to get more/stable fps (dont worry, apex lookes well on low settings. All pros use low settings: https://prosettings.net/apex-legends/ ) With a RTX 3070 I personally use low settings, 2-3GB texture streaming budget. if you really want more fps, set this to none.
- You need RTSS (riva tuner statistic server), download it from guru3d.com
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After installing RTSS, you have to setup a few things there:
- Hit Add left in the corner und choose r5apex.exe (default path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Apex Legends)
- Also Add r5apex_DX12.exe
- Application detection level medium
- On-Screen Display support on
- Show own statistic on
- At Setup enable "2 bars" with the Frame Color Indicator
- Disable the On-Screen Display support and the Frame Color Indicator when you're done.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now tweak it:
|1| You need to go into your game, preferably to shooting range (Don't worry, it doesn't run smoothly yet)
|2| Recognize tearing by looking up and down. The Frame Color Indicator will help you at this point as well. Disable it when you're done.
|3| By changing the value at RTSS "Scanline sync" to a nagativ number you can eliminate tearing. In my case I need just -60, you may need -100 or -200 etc. (From now on it's smooth!)
|4| If you don't want to use Scanline sync, you can now simply limit the FPS without touching the scnaline sync value (0). The pre-configuration as I have described it here is still essential, even if you only want to limit the FPS
It might be useful to define a custom Hz for your PC in the settings of your graphics card, since Scanline sync requires a lot of power, especially at high frame rates. E.g. 190Hz usually works very well with 240Hz monitors. If your FPS fluctuates too much, it will have a negative effect.
And thats it! It gives you a smooth gameplay without tearing, without VSYNC ingame and with low frame times! I recommend activating the autostart option in RTSS. So it will work everytime.Best regards and good luck! =)
@Sick1ClickWell now you are getting somewhere my friend, I have heard of scanline sync. The negative value you put there must be callibrated on per game/user basis - there are guides on guru3d forums. Also the game must render more frames than the monitor refresh rate for it to work properly (about 120 FPS for 60 Hz monitor). I personally have never used it, but I have heard good opinions. It provides tear-less gameplay without introducing input lag. The thing with RTSS frame cap is that it introduces 0-1 frames of input lag, so it's a bit worse than in-game frame limiters. However, what I found to make my game work much better are two things: reducing mouse polling rate to 500 Hz (or 250 Hz for slower processors) and excluding the whole Apex Legends folder from Windows Defender (I do not know how this works with other antivirus softwares). This made my CPU usage considerably lower and made the game fell and play much smoother.
All-in-all I doubt there is a perfect solution without using an Adaptive Sync display, like GSync.@MirageMatt Yeah, right! I wrote here how to calibrate as well 🙂
RTSS is even better than ingame cap and sync. With RTSS I got 6.9ms Frametimes on a 144 Hz display, with ingame sync it's 7.2ms, with cap it's around 7ms. If you can handle constant 190 hz/fps you're on 5ms! I guess, I need a 240 Hz screen :D
What's even better, is that the frametime are much more stable than without RTSS. Without cap you'll have sometimes (not constantly) lower frametimes, because you can have more fps, but than its not stutter-free/tearing-free. I visited two friends today, both are exited about this solution 🙂 To set the polling rate to 500 Hz helped many people with older cpus, with newst there is no change (I could feel a differenc on my old i5-4690k)
I am sure you'll feel the difference with and without RTSS. RTSS feels like realtime input in every situation, if your pc has engough power for sure, lets give a try.
Someone delete my post, 3rd time right now.
@Sick1ClickWell this is not entirely true. Let's take your example. What RTSS shows as frametime, is the time it perceived to render one frame, but it actually does the frame-capping on the CPU-level, so it sometimes has to wait 0-1 frames and it doesn't tell you that in frametime. So your ACTUAL frametime (or I should rather say the actual delay between processing a frame and it's display) is more like 6.9ms+[0-6.9ms]=6.9-13.8 ms. While the game has 7/7.2 ms. The difference is low, but it's still there. So, frametime does not actually help in measuring input lag, it only says how much time the GPU needs to render one frame. Measuring input lag can only be done by using speed camera, because of many variables. The time of your mouse and keyboard to send a signal, CPU process time and queue, same for GPU and lastly sending it to the monitor, or waiting for last frame to completely display if you're using VSync. If you prefer the smootness, go for RTSS. It's no way near to VSync considering input lag.
how do you do number 6? You need to unlock your fps in apex legends by adding this argument to the start options: +fps_max unlimited?
I followed what you said here and it helped some but not completely. Im on 2080ti i9-10900. 240HZ..
yet I can run in this game I stutter
Hey @SayMOB4life
I'll update this post from time to time. It's important to use studio drivers. For some reason, the basic game ready driver workes incorrect with un-caped fps ins apex legends.
Add this start option in origin -> library -> right click on apex -> start options
Greetings
I found the solution for you guys.
You will thank me for this.🤓
here's the step by step guide I followed that fixed my stuttering issue on Apex Legend.
Hey @Krunal-Vasani,
I already know him :D (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technische-Fragen/Apex-laggt-trotz-neuem-High-End-PC/m-p/9336735/highlight/true#M4113)
By the way, my guide about setting up RTSS is identical to this guys video :D
His guide is good for pc newbies, too. But the thing is, if you use RTSS without optimized graficcard settings, you'll get lags when FPS are dropping. With a RTX 2080ti and a i9 9900k that doesn't concern you :D
I found a very good way to use RTSS without lags while FPS are dropping a litte.
Unfortunately, so far I've only found a way with NVIDIA graphics cards. I am now adapting the instructions.
nothing works on a 5700xt and 3600x combo. 16 gigs, dual channel.
fps is so poor in this game, they said "World’s Edge received performance improvements, especially around The Tree, The Dome and Skyhook, looking towards the center of the map." yet the game is worse than in season 5. I have tried every possible solution, but as I see the devs just give a flying f**k about AMD cards. Contacted AMD support, they couldn't say anything helpful, contacted the Devs here, usually no answer, I spent more than 100$ on this game already, and I can't play the game on 144fps even on low settings.. patheticWhat is your screen resolution and RAM speed? Is your screen Freesync ready? I've two more systems to test, a i5 4690k+vega56 and 2700x+5700xt, I'll shar my results with you.
Use 1usmus powerplan guide for the 3600x and the latest BIOS update with latest agesa version.
What did you try to resolve the problem?
Never mind, I found your post:
So just notice the question; Is your screen Freesync ready and what resolution u are using?
I just updated my mobo bios last night, runs even worse than before. Playing on 1080p, 3200 ram speed, it's unstable at 3600mhz. My screen is freesync ready, but I'm not using it due to input lag.
2700x+5700xt runs at 1440p (144hz), i5-4690k+vega56 at 1080p (144hz) both with RTSS and freesync off at low settings.
There must be a problem with your setup, 1080p is not a problem for this hardware.
Did you enabled d.o.c.p for 3200mhz?
For 3600mhz, try to increase SOC voltage to 1.15v-1.2v (for fclk), DRAM to 1.5v-1.6v and maybe you need to change the DRAM timings, like command rate to T2.
@Sick1ClickHey, just wanted to thank you for the guide you wrote on 2nd page, it's working and I can finally enjoy the game, the stuttering was unbearable.
edit: actually, just capping the FPS in RTSS fixes the stuttering, but getting rid of tearing is wonderful to see too.
Hey nice to hear that it helped you. You'll get the best result by just cap the framerate a little below your nativ Hz number - for 144Hz take 138 for example.
My line is moving all the time in 2 bars crap, no matter if i move the mouse or not.
Have Alienware 240hz, went down to 144hz bcz of this game, with 3700x and 1070ti.
All low in game, frame limited to 144.
If fps max is 0, its terrible, tried to -400 and nothing.
Hey @Troll_Anarkiii
did you setup the video config like in the linked manual at 9.?
#EDIT
Don't use scanline sync and RTSS frame limiter at the same time, just use your monitor at 144hz and adjust scanline sync
Yes, and it doesnt work for me, lagging like crap in fights and while i shoot, and i have optic fiber, so its not net. Did everything as you said.
Only awy i can play is locked 144, and even then it lags during fights.
Your hardware is not ideal for 240Hz in Apex legends with RTSS, but 144hz should work fine. Are you sure that you created the video config correctly?
I would recommend leaving the monitor at 144 Hz and only using +fps_max 138, i.e. not using RTSS/scanline sync. In addition, I noticed that the servers in the EU are anything but smooth.. everything is jerky for me too right now.
I know its not ideal for 240hz. I wanted to buy 6800xt and 5900x, but gave up when i couldnt get 6800xt for less then 1000e.
The point is that it was working fine 190 locked before, and now it doesnt.
Its just that with every patch, they screw up something.
Not only AMD. We, owners of RTX have the same issues. Try to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete in lobby - Game crash. You're in game, you got random lags. Replicator textures are not loading, it looks like 144p video from youtube. Same as holosprays. Sometimes they look great, and sometimes like pixelart made in MS Paint. Come on! Everything was ok for me, before the launched Genesis Update. I've got great hope this time when I've seen - " Fix patch" - after this new event "Thrillseekers" game is even worse. Sometimes unplayable with FPS drops in random moments, Lobby generating 100% CPU usage (I got 30% CPU usage playing Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt on high quality, clicking "shooting range makes stutter Apex for 30s - its f*cking disaster. Now I feel bad for wasting my money for Revenant Heirloom. It wasn't worth that money. I tried every solution, even looking problem on Windows Defender Antivirus. But the whole time it was Respawn patch fault.
There's 2 options. I've talk with many people, and errors like these occur in case of owning RTX card or Intel CPU.

I have r5 3600 and rtx 2060 super, even tho i get good fps, game feels really stuttery. But when i use rivatuner it makes my GPU load jump down to 50%, while without rivatuner its like 95%
